Dear Car Gurus,My workshop removed the catalytic converter from my 318 i lifestyle and he advised that it is unnecessary to put a replacement in as it is expensive and it will easily get clogged up in future. Will this affect the performance of my car ?Terry :stupido2:

U should experience a little extra power but your car now stinks due to the excessive toxic emission from the tail pipe.. mother nature and all O2 breathing species will hate u for it.

you could probably lose some low-end torque in exchange for higher end power

Removing it is more an irresponsible and selfish act than anything else.

Shame on you for not putting it back.

Expensive le the cat box! I might delete too if the cat's dead, unless I can get a live cat from the chop shop.. but how can the cat be dead if not under lead fuel poison.. :39:

bro ... unless everyone driving an electric vehicle .. we're all irresponsible and selfish for driving a combustion car cos cat or no cat our car still produce CO, Nox and etc ... He just produces a bit more onli hehehe :D

Your car should have pre-cats and cats. With cats removed, you should still be cleaner burning than some older wiras and sagas which never came with a cat.

Plus kapchais emit a lot more pollution than your car. Shame on them :)

U sure we have pre-cat? Pre-cat O2 sensor ada la..

E46 N46 cat, 2-cylinder sharing one:
Do u have this? CKD don't have these..

Got 2 from what I remember.

Where did you find this diagram?? Its not listed for MY E46's either N42 or N46. Tubing design/layout also looks a bit different.

wey astro...liddat means no need giv u my stock xhaust liao wor.

That sentence I put up is meant for u and E46F.. and so u notice. Unless u don't mind me chop off the inlet and retrofit a joint to connect to mine or like wise, chop off my connector to weld on to yours.. I certainly prefer the first option. Anyway, if you decided to throw it away, please gift it to me. I can put it on Ah Beng's style. Your twin round tail pipe matt chrome cover alone worth RM250 brand new.. :listen: :D

Just curious & wondering whether Southisland & E46Fanatic still have their cats after the exhaust mod?

u all love cat, then should come and stay in penang as the govt ie lim guan eng here loves CAT very much (sori out of topic)

my exhaust also giving me sound like a loose metal's in it.. i was told that's caused by damaged cat also..is it true...
if so, i think i d have to opt for removing it too coz it s expensive to replace it!

catalytic converter clog up? It's just a wide pipe lined with chemical agents that are designed to render the hazardous exhaust gases inert. Unless your exhaust is coughing up engine parts it shouldn't clog up.

is it ok if we remove this cat for extra performance? normally most of japanese car with exhaust modification without cat. i'm thinking to remove my cat and change my silencer for extra sound and performance..basic modification= ( performance AIR inlet and exhaust modification ). too silence is not my taste..( got fire up after watching this vid ). need some advice too..
