need advice from the expert!which brand would you prefer, more on the middle range... can afford high end but for car, not willing to spend too much.was offered espilon, kicker and db. any other brand besides this. no budget limit, upgrading part by part! changing 1 sub to 2 subwoofer either 10" or 12" with mono espilon amp.is it true, singapore is much more cheaper.

Burn, first sort out what kind of music u prefer. Those brand u mention are quite harsh the sound quality, good for blasting....not for sound quality. But for safer better, go for Damn Lousy Speaker.

thought of getting a brand call "american sound", made in taiwan!
what they offer me... after telling them that i like playing slow rock musics!
2 mid front, 2 mid rear, 2 tweeter, 2 10"sub, 1 amp for subs, subbox, rca cable and digital crossover... + adding in my alpine subs for the rest, all around 3400++ with workmanship. went thru net to look for this brand, habok pun tarak!
so decided to go to a regular audio place at pj. they have db (american) and exee cannot remember the name. made in germany) and the rest espilon, kicker and others, but the db at rm800 for one and exee at rm1000 for one, banyak mahal lor...

stereo set kena stolen twice, satu kat office parking area and satu lagi at my parent house in wangsa melawati. that is the reason im not willing to go for high-end brand! i like blasting when travelling alone in early wee hours on a lonely road. keep me awake! as long the sound takda cracking im happy! that is why you need a better brand for subs! tak cepat bocor!

If you are into SQ, get a set of Phass.

if the price is what they say is true, i will definately go to singapore to have it fix!
anyway apa tu binatang phass... sound macam pernah dengar... tapi bukan speaker! anyway, what's the price for it!

If u wanna blasting, try lighting audio!!

yap! heard of lightning audio. actually was looking thru internet for the pricing, but most locals on the net do not have pricing on it. some magazines do show their price list, but not many. and from there it's much easier to choose base on the budget. sometimes you have to visit each car audio shop to get the quote, very troublesome. anyway, going to kklau next week... prefer someone similiar with bmw wiring.
many years back, gatal punya pasal, sebab offer discount... i went to cosplus to have a player fix. almost screw-up my front amp. wrong wiring input. luckily i have it fix from my regular audio shop when they notice it while adding mid on my rear. so im careful to not simply go to any audio shop.

have found a reasonable sub...

Vincent ... I'm no expert la. The real Grand Master of ICE is missing! :p

Burn ... you can look at some of these brands for some ideas - Alpine, Boston, CDT, Dynaudio, DLS, Eton, Focal, Genesis, Helix, Hertz, JL Audio, Morel, MB Quart, Phass, PHD, RS Audio, SEAS Lotus and etc. I believe that most of us here are using atleast one of the above or have done so in the past However, it's hard for us to tell you exactly what will appeal to you as IMO, speaker selection and preference is very subjective and differs from individual to another. The best thing to do is to hear a few models / range for yourself since you're spending some big money on these. Remember, what appeals to me may or may not be your cup of tea so ideally, trust you ears more than anything else.

I have not made any reference to the age ol US brands like Rockford, Soundstream, Lanzar, Lightning, PPI and etc mainly due to the fact that they don't quite appeal to me and it's getting hard to verify their authencity these days. BTW, the Alpine sub above is the new Type R mid range model from Alpine. Good stuff for the money but it will need a powerful amp to drive it and a well built enclosure to sound its best.

Good luck.

Regards,
VaN.

hi vanquish, thanks for ur info.
today saw few brand, alpine, magnat, lightning audio, soundstream, eton crag and kickers, and notice that the price is not much of a different compare to american sound brand, a brand said to be american but was made in taiwan. went thru website looking for the brand, habok pun tarak! local adalah, only the so call sole importer and distributor.
the one i saw, are distributors from autocraft, and able to verify thru website.
anyway, thanks again. have decided to get the alpine range. since it was rated good by lots of audio car review in the net.

I am using Focal speakers in my e21 -

It seems to suit my quite diverse CD collection, from Eric Clapton, Scorpions, Linkin' Park, to Shakira, PCD; to Norah Jones, and last but not least, Crazy Frog. ;)
