first of all ... A big PEACE to everyone!!! i'm confused... should i just wait 2/3 months, save up & buy brand new 318i..RM232k+ but then monthly instalment agak tinggi la...or a recon 3 series... year 02/03 which will cost me max RM180kbut then how bout the reliability,.. maintenance... instalment not that low either.. ???note: just one huge commitment so far i.e house... current car is worth maybe 7k now... hehehehe ..average monthly income is around 8k ++....the beemer is my dream car & i wanna buy one good looking one before jun '07... pls help me decide which is better as i will keep the car 4 life... no joke

The add in NST yesterday from Sapura Auto....RM1,288 per month for pre-registered E90.

For E46 02/03 at RM180K that is really high. Recon is it ? The reasonable price shd be below RM165K. If worry abt maintenance shd try Camry instead.

U can even get a 2004 CKD Lifestyle at RM148K only. One guy very desperate to let go even at RM98K. Donno what is the catch tho.

i actually called Sapura auto... said $1288 is only 4 first year..
2nd year becomes $16xx , 3rd onwards $23xx...
its a pretty crappy deal... dont bother calling them / checking it out yo...

my 2 sens...
- last time i got a local car.. say i keep for 10 years but i buang after 5

- last time i got an American Made rig.. say i keep for 5 years but i buang after 3 years.. then some more in the process get UK made rig


- last time i got a European Made car... say i maintain it stock for at least 2 year, but after 6 months.. bikin gatal.... and change hellavu stuff... now some thing else already *nyiamah*

... but keeping a car for life.. is something really need to be considered carefully especially the racun that comes in left center and right from the hardcore modders.
In addition not to mention the GLAMOUR of driving something new. Besides that
thing are not made like what it is use to as in 30~40 years ago

Do some surfing and check out future UDM releases.. if it ever hits over shore.. sure to be something to drool about.

What to buy, I cannot say.. as it's your hard earn $$$ ... u read and u decide the comments in the club.

With 8k salary, I would advise to go for the recond/ second hand option.

If you want to keep it for life, make sure you get the 6 pot version - 325 is the safest bet.

I think you can get it for much cheaper- just need to hunt for it. - and make sure the condition is superb. There are lots of advice in this forum on how to do that.

As far as maintenance is concerned, as long as you get a good specimen, I don't think it will be much different to a new car. Sometimes, maintenance can be more expensive for the new car as some parts are still expensive.

Other thoughts,

1. Get a stock standard ones or one with all BMW original parts - sport rims and all. If not, you never know what you miss.

2. Get the best equipped ones - sun roof, sports rim, xenon lights, electric seat whatever. Normally they don't cost that much more than otherwise but will cost a bomb if you try to add later. Just make sure they are all factory fitted.

seems like a very good option le 4 me.... 05/06 models... saw its around $200k

& plus its still under warranty ...

My suggestion will be to get a full spec/ Japan spec 325/8 E46 2001/02 (about RM110K max) then spend 20K on touch up and upgrade.. you will enjoy the upgrade of the time and work spend on your creative work. Each BMW are very much standard looking so you will always feel like have yours unique.

With that you will have money save for your children's education and bigger house to keep your second / third car.
