Hmmm, wud not be upgrading my brakes anytime yet. They are pretty strong and sufficient for my current usage... they are light years ahead of my Wira's. Maybe when I have the balls to go faster, then I may need to change them.

Sorry to interupt your thread guys. I need help too in trying to get the correct combination discs and pads for my E39. I went thru the list in the Jan issue of BMWCar mag I got last week in London. Got no time to go to the shop coz its freezing cold. Im going to MAnchester again next week to go to their other branch.

There are so many brands of discs and pads to choose from. I dont even know where to start. What brand is the original BMW discs and pads. They were saying in the mag that Jurid is one of the suppliers of pads for BMW. Is it still considered OEM or original? What about Textar, ATE, Pagid or Mintex? Could someone shed a light for me as I am quite confused. I am no race car driver nor do I drive like one. My current setup are OEM pads and discs dont know what brand from another owner a couple of months ago. Now it needs changing. :(
Thanks!

it's labelled BMW....
Jurid is the manufacturer for the disc brake pads but there are a few grades and the ones they produce for BMW is better than even the higher range ones...
Hence the price tags...

er, i too want to try.. but needs a lot's or work.. if manage to put in, might upset the balance of the car's unsprung weight...

regards.

Has anyone heard of Schumann discs ? They're Made in Germany and are grooved & cross-drilled as well. Cost about the same price as ATE Power Disc.

Just got some 325 calipers and converted my 318 front brakes to vented discs. Decided to give the Schumann discs a try although I couldn't get any info on the Net.

Even before proper run-in, they "bite" as strong as the old solid discs, so should be substantially better once the pads have "bedded in" nicely with the discs. Pads are Textar.

Will try to post some pictures of the discs soon. They're both slotted and cross-drilled, so look pretty nice I feel. At RM200 a piece plus a warranty against cracking & warping, what's not to like ... :D

wah, good review lah for Schupermann discs... i almost had them on my car but OSF left me no choice but to take the e34 Schupermann discs back to shop and swap for e32 brembo discs...

koryong, ur kidding rite? a warranty against cracking and warping? how long of a warranty? RM200 is darn cheap if they work as claimed!

where can i see these schumann discs and do they make'em for alfas?

redd

No kidding, Redd. The warranty is real but I think only for a reasonable period of time. I didn't really want to ask exactly how long 'coz I wanted to leave it open-ended ...

The place is OrtoJaya in Sunway but they only sell Beemer parts so not sure where you can find the Schumanns for Alfa .... sorry.

koryong, u got an address or landmark? maybe they can order something that will fit my alfa.

Is Romeo Inn in Sunway Mentari a good landmark???;)

it's near Romeo Inn facing the open empty land...

erm, im blur. dunno where romeo inn or sunway mentari is. can someone give me directions an idiot can follow. :)

much appreciated!

redd

Sunway mentari is at the corner just b4 you enter LDP. If you are coming from Subang headin to sunway pyramid, its just 100m on the left

Redd,

On the NPE from Bangsar to Subang, you exit at Sunway & turn right like you're going to the Fed. Highway. Just after you turn right, take the first left. OrtoJaya is on the left row of shops. You can also call them at (03) 5632-XXXX, ask for Ah Heng.

Can mention you're from the BMW Club or mention my name, but doubt you'll get a discount ..... :( Their prices are very standard.

Good luck.
