Hi guy, Do we need to change the disc brake each time we change the break pads and the sensor?

Fyi, i am driving E90

Please comment.

Thanks

Bro, normally original BMW brake discs are able to last up to 1.5 times the brake pad lifespan....but you could stretch it to only change the disc whenever you change the brake pads the second time....save some money there.

Also, it is not really necessary to change the sensor unless it has already triggered a warning light in your Meter cluster. Perhaps you could inspect the sensor when you do a brake pad change and if it is still good, you can continue using them.

I've changed 2 times for my E46 as my mileage is about 108k KM. As far as I know, the original BMW brake only lasts about 50~60k KM mileage. I was told by AB that both the discs, pads and sensor needs to be changed at the same time, its that true?

Hi Friends,

Happy Holiday... Just went and change my brake pads. Here are the charges :-

Brake Disc Front Ori @ RM 310 per unit (require 2 units)
Brake Pad Front Ori @ RM 380 per
Brake Sensor Front RM 48.00 per unit
Brake Pad Rear OEM Textar@ RM 205
Brake Sensor Rear RM 48.00
Workmanship RM 140.00

Total RM 1441.00
Is the above price good ? or expensive?

Next: Need to replace vacuum pump and Oil Pan profile gasket. How much huh? :(

Nope as was mentioned by bro daiichi ... You can used your disc at least 2 x times the lifetime of the pads. Am on my 2nd pad now and still holding up finely. Will change disc when my current pad is up for a change. Brake pad wear sensor however you have to change everytime you change a brake pad

I didn't realize that we should also change our brake pad sensor every time we change we change our brake pad. I only change my sensor only when it already triggered a warning light.

Hi All... My suggestion is when it comes to brake please use either Ori or similar... all after market are quite good but do not use lower grade pads becoause of price. you have 1 life (priceless).. do not compromise on brake system just to save a few bucks....

I use ori BMW textar and they are just suits the car fine....

cheers and safe driving...

That's the recommended procedure as the act of removing the pads will actually break or may damage the sensor ... But if careful enough it can be re-use again no problem.

bought bmw ori textar brake pads from BA.
front set - Rm305
rear set - Rm230
front sensor set - Rm25
rear sensor set - Rm25
disc brake front set - Rm500
