Hi all,I've already bought my BMW car and all, but I just want to clarify something with you sifus out here as it involves my money and I feel cheated as a consumer.Basically before buying my car from Auto Bavaria I've made a booking on a car in Ingress Auto. I was told by the SA that it's RM2,000 for the booking and if I cancel the booking I would get back full refund minus the 1% charges of the credit card's merchant fees. Now that I've cancelled the booking, they only returned me RM1,800. Meaning, RM200 is gone! Which is definitely more than 1%! I am pissed because I was NEVER informed about this information by the Ingress Auto sales advisor and moreover she actually misinformed me! When I booked the car I wasn't even issued anything or second schedule, etc. I just signed the credit card bill that's it.Now I feel cheated!!Is there anything I can do to get back my money?I'm new in this scene and do not know the protocols around, I know RM200 is not much but I cannot just blindly let them just take that amount when I was misinformed or not even told about it.

i think RM200 was a minus for their processing fee once you signed the booking, hence you pay for some paperwork that was to be cancelled.

you lucky, motor image never paid back my booking on the WRX i booked.

You were misinformed by the SA, booking fees is 1% of car selling price and in case of cancellation it's should be 10% of your booking fees. And i think you should have receive a confirmation of your booking with the car details listed. That's what i got from AB when i made the booking.

The fact that I did not even receive anything or confirmation except the credit card receipt...can I choose to dispute and fight for a full refund?

u book a car in Ingress then you go AB found another good deal so u book and buy a car in AB...
u got your refund minus 10% from Ingress and got your car from AB...
makes sense that you just enjoy your newly purchase BMW and forget about your 10% which is legally deducted...

be understanding, that sometime the sales lady could be having a bad day or did this mistake unintentionally...and in the first place the sales lady did not put a knife on your throat to force you to buy a car...after spending so much time layan you and do the order processing, you conveniently cancel the order just because the deal in AB was better or the car in AB was better...so forget it and get on with your life...

the scenario is quite similar...when you place an order, it means you made a 'I promise and guarantee' agreement to acquire something...so in this case you broke your promise & guarantee. And now you come here complaining you got cheated...cool huh...

anyway...good luck in your dispute or fight if you choose to...

understand your point of view t2ribena. i'm not whining or making a big fuss. was just seeking experienced member advise.

the ONLY reason i'm complaining is because i specifically told the SA that i am NOT CONFIRMED yet in buying the car and i still will be looking around so the SA told me that if I want this is the last unit, and that I better book it first in case I wanted it. In which I asked specifically, will there be any penalties if I were to cancel? The SA told me that the only "penalty" I would face is the deduction of credit card merchant fees. That's why I'm complaining. Is it not fair to conclude that I was cheated?

Like I said, RM200 is not much, it's the ethics behind it...Hope you understand where I'm coming from.

anyways, got what I needed and i know what to do next, thanks all!

btw - how did u know it was a lady? :p

Which Female Sales Advisors at Ingress? name Start with Sa.....?

If so, she was very helpful with the deal on my mom's E90. even follow up to deliver road tax and insurance when is due for renewal after one year.

phonzy,

Let it go.

Look at the scenario, you paid a booking fee for a car. No doubt you told them that you're unconfirmed but for the sales person, he/she would still need to hold the car for you in case that you do confirm. If someone walks in and asks for similar specs car from a different sales person, they'd have to say that there is no more stock. Would you compensate them for the loss of sales due to your actions? No? Would you compensate the sales person for the time that she/he used up entertaining you and potential loss of customer during that period? No? To make matters worse, he/she did not even get the RM 200 that you forfeited, it went into the company's account.

Next question is, why book when you still want to look around? Why not be upstanding about it and bluntly tell her that you're going to look around and will get back to her in a specific time frame? I went to AB for test drive and upon finishing I told her that I'd look around for stock of the right colour and right deal. If she comes back to me with something I'm happy with THEN I'd book. She did not and I found the right car and deal at Ingress and my wife's a happy camper now.

If you'd booked and the car was not there, they delayed the process, etc.... fine but no, you found a better deal....even from an ethical point of view, who can say who's got the rights to stand on higher grounds?

Lesson learn, don't get engaged until you're sure she/he is the one, same goes for booking cars.

Let it go and enjoy your car.

I doubt that the cancellation charges will go to the Sales Advisor.

if credit card then it goes to company, cash goes to own pocket ...

It's part of the HP Act now that 10% of your booking fee will be deducted in the event of a cancellation. Many times we think we heard that but it was not that at all. She you said SHE then ask someone how they know a lady served you.

Did you check your booking document? Does it state that 10% will be forfeited in the event that you cancel? Honda's booking form states it very clearly. Also, you know you paid a booking but still wish to keep your options open? That is that not unfair? It's like saying yeah you wanna marry the woman, sign the marriage docs, then keep your options open.

Like many said above, let it go.
