Greetings,
I have been thinking of purchasing a second hand bmw x5 e53 3.0. (2000-2006)
Reason:
1) love the way it looks. Even compared to the newer x5's
2) prefer suv for its higher view

It is also as a reward to myself as i have recently achieved one of my life goals. After years of saving my own money, i have invested it into finally becoming a pilot.

Almost everyone i know is against the idea of me buying an old car due to typical thoughts of very expensive maintenance and what not. ( these guys are not x5 owners)

Financially, i dont have a whole lotta cash as i have invested it into flying school before. I am currently working with an airline and my pay is around 8k as a junior pilot.

Would appreciate some input from current owners of the e53 so that i would make a better decision.

Congrats on being a pilot!!! You might want to read up on the X5 section of this forum. Additionally, you might want to join one of our TT sessions and get to know some members whom are using and maintaining their X5. Nothing like the feedback from owners.

First and foremost, congrats on ur achievement bro.

on the X5, assuming u got the final production year (2006), the car is already 10 year old. with age, you need to be aware of the wear and tear of the car. seals, gaskets, solenoids etc needs to be changed, brittle parts needs to b changed, especially hoses n stuff etc etc........ oils n fluids.... when was it last changed? ask urself if u have enough time to attend to all this? if u'd want to experience the 'journey'........

or would u rather want to enjoy ur ride once ur back on terra firma? simply turn on and drive.....

bro f10crew is correct. nothing beats the feedback from owners.

all the best in ur quest bro!!

F10crew and Gendong,
Thank you very much for the responses. I was afraid i wouldn't be taken seriously. Your replies are much appreciated.

I would love to know more about the TT session that was mentioned earlier. How do I join em?

I agree as well the best feedback would be from x5 owners. As of now I don't know anyone.

Try PM bro vixxx. He might be able to hook you up the x5 guys.

the TT Sessions are advertised here in this forum in advance. Welcome to join

Bro leave your phone number and we can add you to the X5 whatsapp group that bro Vixx created some time ago
