BMW is missing a true supercar at the moment...the new M6 is close being a supercar, but it still falls short from the supercar tag and is more of a GT car with big engine..

Audi has the R8
Merc has the SLS AMG
Some would say even VW has the Bugatti Veyron..
BMW...?

Think BMW is not going that route. Instead they are creating a new market segment with the i8 and it obvious they are leading the pack with the i8 and i9 in the midst of development.

What was the question?

Better car? In terms of quality, reliability, lower maintenance, comfort, luxury, class, my vote goes to Mercedes.

My preference? BMW just because it drives like no other. The unique balanced weight distribution structure only available in high end sports car, steering feedback, feeling in control, can feel every bump and unevenness of the tarmac.. no other 4 door car can offer all the above.

Silverbullet.. don't forget the i8. It's more desirable than the R8 imo

The only thing better about a Merc is that it has a 4 year warranty.

New BMWs in Msia are a rip off.....with only 2 yrs warranty!

Haha.. I once know a girl who loves BMW so much.. for whom I decided to take a plunge in owning my first BMW, and she is now my wife. That first BMW of ours was our bridal car.. red ribbons over Alpine White.. :)

Abg M..but R8 can pickup more chicks and the V8/V10 sound is to die for :D Ermm the bmw i8 is still a sports car, a complex hybrid sports car that still doesn't break the "0-100kmh in less than 3.0s barrier"..but indeed it looks sleek and uses ground breaking technology and being the very first car maker to use Carbon Fibr on an industrial scale

I have to disagree. A Mercedes Vito can pickup more chicks compared to an R8.

Because R8 only two seater......

.. now I'm really wide awake!

...well..what to say :) BMW .. but how that is hard to expect on BMW enthusiasts forum?? :)

..in reality..which one is better..well..that depends on what you are going to take as a relevant feature..for example..

Bugatti Veyron vs. Toyota Landcruiser (Ninja)

One would say its Veyron as its fast, good looking, famous, cool..blah blah..
On other side, you could say that Ninja will not be as fast as Veyron, but it will go anywhere Veyron does, with entire family and all luggage, and on other side, Veyron could only dream about going trough places Ninja could do routinely..

So, one could argue that Veyron is overpriced piece of junk unable to meet basic requirements..

Just a thought.. :)

Branding wise, Merc is more abt luxury, while BMW is more performance oriented.

That was quite clear not too long ago.

But nowadays BMW produces Luxury lines and Efficient Dynamic models, while AMG is going for volume with no less than three 4 potter models.

So which is the best German brand? Easy.. Porsche!
