Alright, my tools use to work on my past cars (all Japanese makes). However apart from the screwdriver & pliers, none of the tools seem to work for my E36 (wrong size, etc).So my question is, where & which brand is the perfect kit to buy so I can work on my car myself?

Stanley Torx drivers are my weapon of choice. Got a T20 and T25, then got a multi-set with 6 other sizes to follow up. That bumper didn't stand a chance.
What I would like is one of those BMW plastic lever puller tools that can pull plugs/pins out without scratching anything...

Agreed especially about the plastic trim remover tools. For those who don't know what these are, here are two examples.

A) http://cgi.ebay.com.my/BOJO-BLUE-GE...t=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item2a0e352a4c

B) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/11-p...Z290461651140QQptZMotorsQ5fAutomotiveQ5fTools

They are very imporant to remove trims and uphostery clips without destroying them Unfortunately they cost a fortune on ebay for plastic tools. Anyone got kantau or found them in Malaysia before?

Perhaps someone should do a group buy for this item.

Also besides torx you sometimes need the Security torx. These are Torx with a small hole in the middle. Security torx are usually used on the MAF.

Also don't forget an oil filter cap remover.

Salut
