BMW says B10 will cause severe engine damage

Upon further reading, this is what I found:
1. it will seep into the engine and blend with engine oil, resulting in the engine oil getting diluted.
2. clogging of fuel filter as it acts as cleaning agent, so all previous deposits, contaminants etc will get flushed out
3. it turns into waxy substance which also clogs the fuel filter.

Can these issues be overcome or reduced with more frequent engine oil and fuel filter change? Any sifus have a good understanding of this, please enlighten us :stupid:

Just read, its true B100 see below extract,

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, which sells the locally-assembled diesel-electric E300 BlueTec Hybrid, the first diesel-electric hybrid vehicle in Malaysia, also confirms that it can use B7 biodiesel but only if it meets the European Union's EN590 standard. Its engines can also run on B100 biodiesel but only if the fuel meets the EN14214 standard.

For Euro 2 diesel which we have now and also Euro 5 on selected BHP Stations in the south, can anyone enlighten me :

1. What is the biodiesel component for each fuel?
2. If B10 gets implemented in Oct, does this mean that both fuel will have a B10 component?
3. If B10 implemented, can we still save our engine with more frequent oil & filter change?

Looking forward to hear from you guys.

Found some useful information on Mercedes-Benz Biodiesel Brochure/Guide, do read it can similarly applies to BMW diesel cars.

Thanks for this. it says ... Engine oil dilution, especially when driving under low load and engine temperature
conditions, because biodiesel is not evaporating from engine oil. Fuel enters the engine oil
during particulate trap regeneration.

Question: BMW diesel cars here (CKD ones) don't have DPF. That means no issue with fuel entering the engine oil?

YF,
I try to answer the best I can with some of the information below.

Basically Euro Diesel categories(Euro 1/2/3/4/5) are all about the different in sulphur content in various categories of diesel fuel aim to reduce the exhaust emission rates.

This is about cars(both gasoline and diesel) exhaust emission standards.

You will find the selected specifications for diesel fuel

The use of B5 and above or B7 and above may void the BMW car warranty, we need to find out from BMW.Basically Euro Diesel categories is all about the different in sulphur content in various categories of diesel fuel aim to reduce the exhaust emission rates.
