Hi guys,I am new to BMW, a classic car lover. Just bought myself a beaten up BMW E3 3.0S 1974 model. The engine and gearbox needs major works, if anyone knows any half-cut or refurbished supplier please introduce. Other option is to replace the engine with a E23 or E32 or Vanos type but the classicness is lost.Do let me know. My email is vinesh@veara.us. Suppliers are welcome to contact me.Regards.vk

go intro urself in newbie section. did u buy the dark blue e3?..well do up the engine n gearboz.. dun replace it.. but if yo dun care.. you can replace it with newer m30 engines frm the e32 but will need slight mod to the gearbox area

thank you for the advice bro. yes, i bought the dark blue one. would you be able to consult me in the engine & gearbox repairs. mechanic claims its he can't guarantee the works due to the rust condition at the piston liners
my mobile is 012-315-6007, an experienced opinion would be highly appreciated.
best regards.

Hey ,

Congrats on bringing a classic back to life.........

any of the m30 variants are a fairly easy swap, so long as you get crossmember, electrics and ecu, it is a very common swap in the sates & germany as the 3.0 used to spit head gaskets regularly, also look into rebore of the block & oversized cylinders, if block allows, not sure of the tolerances in those old blocks.........

Will look up relevant sites and let you know links..........was looking at it for my e3 3.0is as wasnt sure what state engine was in, purchased it sight unseen.

Good luck & I'll update soon

replacement of all lamps, chrome trims, bumpers, rubbers, mouldings etc. would exceed 50k for sure. but you'll own the prettiest classic BMW in this country.

Did you complete this project? Can not recall ever seing a E3 in malaysia. One of my all time favourite. :)

Just Came across an E-3 in Subang here the other day. In dire need of restoration though. I have been looking for a classic candidate for a restoration project, a BMW you don´t see on the road every day. Any of you know other E-3 Sitting around. Actually any classic would be to an interest..

my painter in subang is doing a bare metal job on an E3. he also did similar work on an E9 last year. that's why i'm itchy myself :)

Where in Subang?, would be nice to see the E-3. The one i saw was a Fjordblau E-3 with a splash of red housepaint over the window/bonnet. Looked like a mixed car though, with a 1974-1977 front and a pre 1971 rear end.

Was that the red E-9 that was for sale at Bandar Utama/Kayu Ara for a couple of years? I looked at that one (70K rm), but it needed a lot of work to be a jewel.

go intro urself in newbie section. do u purchase the dim blue e3?..well do up the engine n gearboz.. dun replace it.. but if yo dun care.. you can replace it with newer m30 engines frm the e32 but will need slight mod in the direction of the gearbox place

Tor, there's an E3 in USJ 19, near the mall. I believe it's registration number is 6000.

The red E9 in Kampung Kayu Ara is still there. Don't think it's for sale anymore as I asked about it some 6 months ago. It's now parked at the rear of the shop, pretty much out of sight unless one were to walk right to the back.

There are a couple of 2002s near Jason Foo's shop, but these are beyond restoration.

Dear mieklh..dont mind sharing where is Jason foo's wsyop? i am looking for rear gass window for my 2002 lar..
Thx
