BMW Connected 6NR apps now available in Malaysia

After a simple upgrade my 2011 f10 has all the functions that are available here mentioned in paultan's articles.I even have AUPEO the first 3rd party BMW approved app,There will be many more 3rd party apps to come.Without the upgrade,I think the Idrive is under utilise.I think 3rd party apps like AUPEO and the incoming Stitcher radio will be the future of Idrive improvement .It is really make the ride truly enjoyable as far as the infortainment is concerned.

BMW dealers will tell you that you can't upgrade,while it takes only coding to upgrade the f10s.it Worth every sen to upgrade.It won't be much probably you pay more for weekend family dinner at fancy restaurant.now I looking forward for any news on announcement or launching of 3rd party Approved apps

Unfortunately, for cars with newer versions of software, you need and FSC code from the dealer - local or abroad - not cheap

Have checked with BMW, it will cost RM 1,800 for the 6NR if your F10 does not originally come with it.

Just got in touch with prinkvk - he did some magic and ConnectedDrive is on! BMW Apps works just great, and I am able to use AUPEO! too! Fantastic! Thanks to both prinkvk and also Ashman55 who was kind enough to show me all the features in person! Hope to post some pics soon.

Mac,Just discover today,got to change the setting of BMW online to UK setting.Now can use google local search which then can be transferred to our idrive map for direction.Only UK has this function,thats why the setting must be UK.I got to know this while checking out the recently Upgraded BMW online of another forummer.When ios6 comes out soon,there will be more goodies.

Yes, Ashman55, prinkvk/princevick told me about it when iDrive was upgraded - good stuff. The latest 2012 maps are much more detailed than previously.

I think the BMW online is much more useful with google local search,panaramio compared to BMW connected app.Hope vick can unlock many more secrets and make our Idrive functioning as intended even in Malaysia.Malaysia Boleh..

Yess, Ashman55, still waiting for Vick's research on retrofits that would enable video play from files in iPhone and iPAD. Better still if the iDrive can play mp4 or other video formats from the USB thumb drive.

Hi Liew,

At the moment, you can play video through your Ipod/Iphone via ConnectedDrive IPod/Iphone Plugin with video playback. It will require some hardware work though but can be done and I do offer it

My F10 was the first batch of the M-Sport local CKD without the sunroof and reverse camera in 2011. And the i-Drive without the connected drive menu. But few months earlier when the reverse camera option available lately and i let the AD installed it my voice command function was gone and bluetooth sometimes also hard to connect. The AD in Ipoh call me and said there is a latest software to solve those problems. I haven't send my car to them yet so i was wondering if i send to them to update then can i still let you upgrade to the 6NR?? May i know what option you provide and the cost for 6NR, latest map, etc? Thanks bro

Hi David,

Unfortunately once they update your car's firmware to the latest one, you would need to purchase the activation code for ConnectedDrive to enable it.

Stitcher radio is now the 2nd global 3rd party app available for iPhone download for BMW connected app.it is really fantastic radio.Aupeo for music and Stitcher for news and talk shows.You are my man Vick for making all this possible here
