Hi all. As you can tell from the heading of this post, am new to the club. I just bought a bmw 728i e23 but it cannot move as there is no response from the gearbox. Its automatic and have to get it replaced but i dont know how much it will cost me. Also if someone could point me in the direction of a good repair shop that's both affordable and does a good finish in selangor I would really appreciate it. I also need a new windscreen. Can someone please tell me the price of this as well? plus fixing it? Also since it cannot move I have not yet got a chance to see it. Does anyone know how much transorting it from johor to a repair shop in a place like petaling jaya would cost? I cannot wait to be united with my love.(Imagine having a baby you love dearly but cannot see).. Someone please help..

Wow, that's a load of stuff you're dealing with.

Try to get in touch with Vincent Hor as he might be able to chip in with some advice.

Am not too familiar myself with places where you can service your 'soon-to-be' classic, but most would recommend places like Blue Green, or Optimum and etc to give your ride a new lease of life, mechanically.

All the best with your restoration efforts bro.

Wow, you actually bought a car you have not seen in flesh yet? or did i just got that wrong? if you did, I admire your courage bro.

Transport cost will vary from each two truck company so best is you give a few a call and find one that suits your budget and make sure it's a flat bed. Usually, towing charges withing the city ranges from 120 to 200 depending on the range, but if it involves outstation towing, the towing agency may change you per km travelled. I remember a friend had to two his car from Ipoh to KL and ended up paying something in the excess of RM800. So you may need to check the actual cost from JB to KL.

With regards to a workshop, you might want to check out the boys at Blue Green, pretty decent and they work on older bimmers too. Here's the link to Blue Green http://www.bluegreen.com.my/index.html

If you want to know more abt Optimum, you ask ask Eggie cos he's a regular there...Cheers!

Thanks a lot guys. The blue Green site was really helpful. I called the workshop and they said the gearbox is readily available. The tow is cheaper if its handled from johor and will be delivered. The only problem now is the windscreen. Nobody seems to have it in stock. Any suggestions?

There is a Dr. Cermin near Blue Green. when u visit the BG boys, you may want to check with them and see if they can get you a unit.

What is the manufacture year of this e23? Any idea what gear box u are having? I have 1 spare ZF4HP22 which is mated to my E24 M30 engine. If the gear box is correct, then PM me & will work out a deal for you.
