Hi sifus....I am a total newbie in BMW, and heavily considering getting one of these mean machines babies... hehehe... and from the 'gagement' and also by reading this forum, it seems that 320D would be the ideal and near perfect choice for me... Factors that I consider is due to the distance that I travel everyday... Setia Alam --> Central KL for work.... and also the looks and performance.... (what else is new eh... )Anyhow, I've been looking and can't find a thread that states the maintenance cost... during and after the warranty period... Appreciate all the sifus would gimme a clear mind....Thank you....

First 3 years everything free including oil change .oil filters etc...After that should be the same as any Beemer..maybe cheaper even because don't need to change spark plugs...don't have them in diesel engines!! Go for the 320d bro...you are lucky , the new batch is uptuned to 380nm torque and 184hp...the new batch outruns the 325i in the 0-100km/hr sprint!

Thanks for the info... I would be visiting a showroom soon as well... need to learn about the package that they are offering... I heard Ingress is giving the best quality at the moment... (no offense)

You can buy at any authorized dealer and service at any other authorized dealer. So if AB gives you the best deal you can still go to Ingress or Quill for service.

ps. try and get a courtesy car while you send your own car for service when you're negotiating ;)

Other than that, diesel also dont have ignition coils whch is costlier than spark plug to replace. you will also save on the engine oil compared to the six cylynder car.

yeah...i think diesel is easier to maintain than petrol. the only additional part is the turbo in diesel which i think not a big issue if engine oil is taken care. do u guys straightly follow the on-board computer to prompt for oil change or interval basis like 5k or 10K for oil change. i heard a lot cases some low user end up with 'tar' inside the engine because it doesn't get 10k per year and by the time getting 15k, engine oil all gone thick...

Sifus,

Firstly sorry for riding on this thread on a slightly different topic. Does anyone have the complete maintenance schedule for our 320d? Mine is already more than 110,000 km old and I'm clueless of what made maintenance I'm missing. Pleaseeeeeeeeee help, my Sifus.

Change your diesel filter, flush your gear box oil, flush your brake fluid. Jack the mechanic will do a good job for you. : )

Fluids, fluids & fluids. Key components are diesel filter, ATF & brake fluid. Service intervals for these items should be kept at about 40-50k km to ensure longetivity of the components involved.

A friend of mine told me that certain SC provides a 100-point checkup service. He took his car there to be checked at 100,000km which I think is a good idea as well.

Dear Sifus,

I'm new to 320d e90 lci. I have some noob questions.

1. What is the estimated cost to replace diesel filter?
2. Is flushing the gearbox important for a 100k kms?
3. I'm confusing as I saw recommendation to change ATF & Pan Filter varies from 50k, 70k and 100k? Which one to follow in order to strike a balance of the car condition and my pocket.
4. How many litres of engine oil for N47D20? Do we need to flush the engine when it clock 100k kms?
5. What is the correct specification of engine oil to be used?
6. How many litres of gear box oil for this particular model?
7. I suppose ZF6 is the correct gearbox oil for replacement?
6. Is flushing brake fluids important? Why?

I recently quoted engine oil replacement + filter at RM500 and ATF change + Pan filter + gearbox flushing at RM1600. Is the price reasonable?

Hoping all sifus could help to sort out my concerns.

TQVM.

1. What is the estimated cost to replace diesel filter?
RM170, get original , oem useless
2. Is flushing the gearbox important for a 100k kms?
Yes, you shall do it at 60k km
3. I'm confusing as I saw recommendation to change ATF & Pan Filter varies from 50k, 70k and 100k? Which one to follow in order to strike a balance of the car condition and my pocket.
BMW says it is lifetimes 5 years 100k km, but 60k shall be reasonable
4. How many litres of engine oil for N47D20? Do we need to flush the engine when it clock 100k kms?
5L
5. What is the correct specification of engine oil to be used
any good one

6. How many litres of gear box oil for this particular model?
6Liter
7. I suppose ZF6 is the correct gearbox oil for replacement?
Original gearbox oil can only get from dealer like Quill, Ingress, AB.. Outside cheap and fake
6. Is flushing brake fluids important? Why? Yes, your life is priceless

If you get quot from dealers than it is reasonable. I will do gearbox change at dealer since you need to leave your car 1 night and check level at 35C. outside just don't care. Engine oil change outside cheaper
