want cheap and do it yourself worthy black window trims for that fierce/monotone look or to get rid of that ugly chrome (for non chrome lovers)Use Vinyl stickers! because they're are manufactured in colour, they won't fade, and because they're not paint, they won't flake or chip, they practically last forever! DO NOT, EVER, use electrical wire tapeif you have other faded or non-salvageable black parts to refurbish and don't want to get it painted or the hassle of painting it yourself, needing to remove/mask the area, use vinyls!get:-Matt/Flat black vinyl stickers from the sign shop, cut them in strips depending on width of trim, the longer the strips the better.-Hair dryer-Expired credit card/ plastic card-sandpaper-clothSteps:-Don't have to remove the trims, get it cleaned if it's smooth, if it's not smooth, get it sanded and then cleaned.-Get a strip of vinyl, lay it at one of the ends, lay it done end first.-Fold the edges down. -When arriving at the curves and such, use hairdyer. warm it, stretch it a little, and lay.-Remember to overlap the next strip, probably 2-3mms to prevent gaps. (vinyls shrink a little under the sun, 1-2mms max throughout lifetime)-blah blah blah, you're done.enjoy.CheersTom

Tom,When I did this to my car 6 months ago, it was actually based on the very same advice from you. Glad that you put it up in the forum. The shadowline looks great on light-colored e30's ... ;) Elwine,Lose the chrome .....

Umm.... are there specific types of vinyl tape to use? I've tried this about 10 yrs back on my corolla (black limited ed' liftback)... but them stickers shrunk alot - I remember getting a 3M type tape from a car accs. shop in Klang.Removing it later caused other problems (had to swab it down with swan alcohol). But don't mind trying it again if the tape type is right.thanks.

koryong, glad you loved it. i think it's one of the best ways to do it.ngkm: the regular matt vinyls from the sticker/sign shops will do. DO NOT however, use the electrical wire tape..... they shrink like no one's business, brittle when exposed under the sun, peel, and will be a BITCH to remove.three28: i used it on my grille. it should be much easier on ur facelift grille(it is facelifted right?) since it's much flatter..it works a charm, no more chips

Is there any particular brand name for these stickers? might be planning to do this to my ride...

Thanks...

Just go to any of the many sticker shops out there and ask them for vinyl sticker sheets. It is the same stuff that they usually use for outdoor signage and hence is weather proof.

Of course the famous brand to look for would be 3M but they can be expensive. most of the shops use a japanese brand(can't remember the name).

Anyone care to help me out??.....willing to belanja makan????
Way to got, jeff.... kena poison by me... ha.. ha..

Actually, quite easy to do. Just need patience. Skill can be picked along the way.
Just start with the straight part of the trim first. If you can not satisfy, you can always peel it off and try again..

Practice make perfect... This is what DIY is all about. :p :D
