Hi all,Just to share my experiences so far in using a rented car [kereta sewa]. Had been in Langkawi since Tuesday, and I rented a Toyota Vios 1.5, base spec... But boy oh boy, was I quite impressed with the car. I mean, so-called base spec, 1.5 cc, but seemed like a pretty decent car to drive. First impressions sealed when I only pumped about RM 40 worth of RON 95, which is roughly half tank, and I've covered almost 90+ KMs but only one bar has vanished. Gosh. Way better FC than my fuel guzzler. :DThen, even better, powered folding side mirrors and can use remote to unlock the boot. Come on man, my E32 even doesn't have all those! :motz: How far has car makers progressed since! And, the main reason why I said rental cars are always best; it's because they don't belong to you! Simple as that. Just pay a small fee, and pump a lil bit of petrol, and voila, you have a car where you don't need to worry about thrashing since it ain't yours. I mean, if I were to drive my E32 here on these windy trunk roads, of course I wouldn't have a blast going thru corners with more gusto than usual, and going thru muddy waters. :D Hehe, and well, probably finding that sweet sound of the engine straining when I decide to overtake a slow lorry or two... Pure joy. This is how driving should be. Pure, unadulterated bliss; irrespective of car.Of course, if I had a Bimmer here.... :love:Anyways, Dugong car or not, it has served me well over these past few days. But nothing beats coming back home to drive my Bimmer... :top:

That dugong can do 180kph without a problem. Braking or obstacle avoid at those speed dunno la. Its a very efficient car, much more efficient than a Honda.. :D :D

Best part about the dugong is the low maintenance bill.. :top:

Toyota sedans have always been known to be decent cars both to own & drive. Reliable, low maintenance & pretty responsive engine when you need it..it's no wonder that they are the No.1 car manufacturer in the world, recent troubles notwithstanding.

My own Toyota Corolla has been running with nary a problem (except for the normal wear & tear items) for the past 14 years..

Cheers :)

Unfortunately for me None of these "cheap and cheerful" cars seem to be built for my size. I end up stretching my arms at a 90 degree angle from my body to hold the steering. Get fatigued very fast.

Wow. Hehe. I don't even drive that fast in the E32. :D

Langkawi very rarely can speed since lotsa trunk roads; plus it's been raining almost daily! :D But very nice to be driving along the roads here. Just imagine how much nicer it'd be if I'm in a Bimmer. :D Wakakaka.

At this speed my car rpm would only be at most 3.5k rpm & relaxing crusing while eating peanuts.:listen:

So far, up till lunch time, I drove exactly 160kms in the Vios; mixture of heavy right foot plus occasional overtaking along the trunk roads, and well, 160kms covered so far with 2 bars of fuel utilised.

Still got another 2 bars to go before leaving for the airport this evening, so shall try to see whether can wring another 50-60kms before returning it. :D

Thank goodness I didn't opt for the Viva! :D

You actually bring up the best part about renting with this last comment, bro, which is that you get to try a whole lot of variety! I rent quite a bit when on business travels, and have picked up a mix of SUVs, sedans and economo zippy cars, etc..
more memorable ones include an rx8 manual and a 4.0liter ford falcon, which were both fuel guzzlers.

Enjoy the ride in your dugong!

Exactly Maniac! :D

Variety. Of course, the choice of cars available abroad does make us salivate with joy at the thought of getting our hands behind some very impressive machinery, or those that we can't enjoy here in Malaysia.

The very thought of being able to rent a decent car, based on budget to drive around in, is very appealing. :top:

Anyways, Dugong was good, but ever since I got back from Langkawi, I found it very hard to part with my E32. Sayang!!!

Nothing beats the Ultimate Driving Experience, fully agree, esp your own :D

Yeah. Most definitely! But of course, using your own car, the tendency to just be a hooligan is just so hard to resist! :D
