bros, need some pointers here... for the past two days my car battery warning light goes on and off (flashing red). This only happens right after starting the car until the engine reaches operating temperature. So after about 2min the warning light disappears and doesn't emit during the entire journey. reading the car manual, it say possibly alternator not charging up the battery. the last time i experienced the same thing was about 2 months ago ...now warning light came back. i don't have problems starting up the car, just one crank. any idea about the issue?

Battery not in good condition resulting poor power storage.

Your battery's power is only sufficient for you to crank the car and travel for a short distance if your alternator is out of order.

Juts do some checking .......

1.start ur engine
2.disconnect the + wire from the battery
3.if ur engine died once u disconnect the +wire, tat mean ur altrnator KONG.If ur engine still running.....meaning ur alternator is oke and maybe u just need to change the battery......

Hope this will help....

Good Luck....

btw how long u been using ur current battery?

lionel u gave me some hint ...thanks. started the engine and disconnect the + wire, engine died! ...this morning when i started the car and drove ...the warning light didnt appear.

wat will be other symptoms for alternator kong oredi??

batt is 2yr old, big one i think 88amp.

updates ..updates!

Yesterday evening i did the batt voltage test (before starting engine and after starting/rev engine), and compared to other cars in my house:

- my bimmer (before: 11.75v, after: 12.25v) ...low voltage...
- camry (before: 12.55v, after: 13.95v)
- wira (before: 12.55v, after: 14.05v)

It shows that my ride alternator isnt charging up the battery, diff of 0.5v instead of supposedly healthy alternator at least 1v plus.

This morning went to junkyard to look for used alternator, found a Valeo 100A alternator (stock was Bosch 90A). Got it for RM400.

After fixing it, problem solved. Started the engine and disconnect the batt + wire, engine still running!! ...good good, didnt died on me. Then did the voltage test again, this time (before: 12.15v, after: 13.55v) ..good voltage diff.

I'm a happy man!

What? RM400? I changed mine, a new Bosch 140A for RM2325!!! But, how long will a used alternator last? Maybe i should have changed with a used one.

changed mine 2 years ago for rm400 also, got it from chopped shop also, still alive, runnin' and kickin'. if can last for another 6mth also worth it already maa...

cheers..

no need to change alternator if engine not died during disconnect + wire. means alternator ok. the problem is battery, it cant store enough power during alternator charging. u can see the battery plate, if it "kembang" , battery has a problem.
