I was driving the car this morning and afternoon with no problems. Just now tried to start the car, started but the battery light remains on. The steering wheel is very heavy indicate the power steering is not working.Do you think I should just change the battery or the problem is something more serious . FYI, I just changed the battery around 6 months ago.

6 months sound premature for battery life. I think you should check the alternator and wiring.

No wander your battery light on, it's means your alternator was not charging due to your belt broken.

Just checked under the hood. Belts are gone , broken and twisted :(

Truly so sorry to know and take care.

Thing is I just changed this belt two months ago. I think it is this belt , there were two that were changed, one long and one short.

Long belt for power steering, alternator and water pump.
Short belt for A/C.

make sure you buy the original belt. and dont drive the car until the belt is replaced coz your car will stalled when the battery is discharged.

Changed the following
1. Belt 6PK1555 175
2. Fan Belt Tensioner 285
3. Idle Pulley (big) 145
4. Idle Pulley (small) 125
Labour 120

Total damage RM857.20 !

some tips here...
do a regular week end check under the boot...
open the boot put the stand...this without the engine started...
use ur finger to touch all the belting and press it downwards and fell the pressure...
if the belting is too loose during pressing to far inwards need to be adjusted...
also can do the visualize inspection if the belting got crack...
this is a regular week ends DIY inspection...
cheers...:burnout:
