Battery Exploding Problem

Hi wglee

As far as I know mine is a locally-assembled model and the battery is located in the boot.

But you got a point there...if the lack of outlet is the problem then the battery itself wouldn't explode but it would have occured in the the battery compartment.

I am not convinced the cause is the build up of the gases. I suspect it could be due to some electrochemical reaction within the battery.

What do you guys think ?

wah...got burnmarks in ur bonnet?!!
so, is it safer 2 use maintenance free batts a?
if so i better change 2 that one.

Uncle...the plastic cover absorbed most of the impact...no visible damage to the boot...As for the battery compartment the mechanic did some cleaning and repainted it.

Rosenmontag, thats wat i wanna hear!!
u mean battery water splattered on carpets & body?
is it true that battery water will cause metal 2 corrode, & probably will damage d carpets too??
i spilt bleach once on d carpet, juz came back frm TMC & found d bottle on d floor board!!

Yo Uncle

The liquids were contained within the battery compartment so there was no damage to the carpet. There is a plastic cover on top of the battery and that prevented any damage. Otherwise it would have been very messy and expensive indeed.

The mechanic removed the battery water, cleaned up the place and then repainted the compartment.

Pls bear in mind battery explosion can cause as same effect as 2nd degree burn marks...pls check your battery level from time to time...and make sure the vent is not blocked....MF battery....tarak tau

happened to wifey's daily e32. I'd say vent was blocked. Possible the guy installed forgotten to remove the vent lid from factory...
