Auto Transmission shifts to emergency mode

Hi Sifu's i'am Jay here ( in newbie section), I have a problem with my 328, the auto transmission (gearbox) sensor lights come's out and goes to 3rd gear every time i hit more than 100km.once i off and start back the car its ok then comes back again ! .. the ATF oil has been changed & no sliping when gears are changing, please help me...

An automatic transmission solenoid is simply a solenoid. A solenoid is an electrical device that opens and closes by getting a command from the computer in your car. Of course the computer gets many signals from other inputs all over the car, in order to make a decision.

Solenoids are somewhat more complicated than that and operate many sophisticated devices on your car. They also are inside your transmission. Solenoids come in multiples and sometimes they are a ‘solenoid block’ assembly pack. These assemblies carry many solenoids on certain transmissions.

Bro Thank you for quick responce, so in order to check the solenoid i need to hook up to the computer and see for error codes? or what shall i do 1st....tq

Take it to your trusted mechanic and they would be able to assist you..you can read around the forum, some guys did replace them

Bro jay_Kl just echoing what bro pardypeople mentioned. Do take it to a reliable mech. Cucuk your car to a scanner and it will tell you whats wrong. I had a similar problem before whereby the emergency light comes during a cold start, off and on balik the sign disappears. Problem solved by replacing gear selector switch. Cost - RM1000 parts and labour.

My 328i is maintained by WP Auto, Albert. If you wanna give a shot, can direct you there or pass you his number.

I did this at M Speed USJ. However other mechs such as WP Auto like pardypeople mentioned and Optimum are pretty good with these issues as well.

WP Auto is in Pandan Mewah, Albert - 012 201 7792, M Speed is USJ, if its closer for you then by all means. Good Luck !

Hi, Here the update, got my car hook to GT1 in sunway, here the error code, its says " EGS: Gear monitoring 5 & Gear stall 5 " the mechcanic says the gear box for gear 5 is faulty and needs a gear box transplant...any input Sifu's

Hi Guys thanks alot, got a sensor changed insteed of a gearbox and i'am not seeing the transmission light anymore...need to abuse the car in highway during CNY to see if i solve it..

Hi Bro....It seem like happen to me before....So what I do is diagnose and it show 2nd selenoid shifting......I get advise from my fren not to change the selenoid but open the oil sump cover,bring down the "sarang semut" they call and do the flushing inside the gearbox with compress air.......The "sarang semut" put inside the basket and mix with "minyak tanah" about 2 night.After that flush everything and you can see all the metal dust come out also done forget to flush the selenoid one by one.Until now the problem settle and no more problem come out.
My Ride is 325i 04 local...........hopefully this can help u.....

Very true, learnED my lesson, GB transplant is the last, dont loose your precious GB coz will get only get a f*uck*d up GB from a chopshop!
