The popularity of the new Audi Q5 is causing a shortage of supply around the world. Waiting period is 6 months in the UK, 9 to 10 months in Malaysia. Technical Spec 4-cylinder petrol engine with exhaust gas turbocharging and charge air cooling, DOHC. 1,984 cc 208 bhp at 4300 to 6000 RPM 350NM torque at 1500 to 4200 RPM 7 speed S-tronic 0-100km/hr 7.2 sec Top speed 222 km/hr Consumption - 8.5 litre/100km RRP - RM299K. This car is too small la bro. Furthermore, I'll never buy a brand new BMW. They are always overpriced. Let's compare Lexus RX350 and BMW X5 3.0. This is just an example. They are both from the same category. They compete head on. In other parts of the world, the price is about the same. But over here, we pay RM588K for a 3.0L X5 but the RX350 (also CBU) is selling for RM388K OTR.

Yup...I really agree wif u. Brand new BMW in Malaysia always quoted in a very high price compare to other asian countries. For my opinion, the selling price for the Q5 is quite reasonable, maybe due to small engine capacity paying the lower import tax or duty. Actually I feel a beat regret on buying a used X5 last month rather buying Q5. But after knowing that the waiting list is 9 to 10 months, I feel not so regret own an used X5 and it is also not bad compare to Q5 (both models also have the word "5").

The price for Q5 is quite high for a 2.0L car but it appeared to be cheap if you compare it with its nearest contender BMW X3 2.5L. If not because of X3, I am sure they can lower the price some more. Yes, 9 to 10 month is way too long for a waiting period. The problem is that once I commit, who knows 8 months from now BMW will come up with the X3 replacement model powered with 3.0L twin turbo engine. Now, it's time to knock my head against the wall.
 
The sleek look of Q5 and its attractive base price of RM299k explain the long waiting list...if i am not wrong, audi is offering a sport package for an additional RM20k. If price is not an issue, I would go for the rx350 or a used/pre-owned x5...AB had 2 units of 2007 model which were offered for RM450k about 2 months ago - both were snapped up within a week.

RM450K for a 2007 model X5 is still very high. RX350 and Discovery 4 both have 'correct' pricing. X5 is way way too expensive. How to explain a CBU Lexus 3.5L engine can be priced below RM400K? Engine cubic capacity determines the amount of import duty being imposed. Both are 4X4s. Currency exchange rate? Japanese Yen also very high nowadays. Close to RM4.00 for every 1000 Yen. It has to be high profit margin and probably strong demand.

Biskot RX350 is not for you. Lembik sangat

X5 mengamcam tapi harga orang gile, you pay for the premium. X3 tak cantik - neither here nor there. Q5 lagi cun.
 
buy buy buy.. keep the wheels of the economy moving bro... for my money, the Q5. new generation design and engine la. bmw is overpriced really. and the x5 is getting a bit old dont u think? the disco, too sluggish and heavy.
just gotta be patient for this one. good things come to those who wait :)
