Are Forum Guideline Being Followed?

On 3.12.2006, the following guideline was posted by Skar19:- All replies made by members in the tech section which are not in anyway related to the topic will be deleted. If the reply does not answer the question put forward by someone it will be deleted. If the reply is not about the topic it will be deleted. Contact number should not be posted, if so it will be removed. Nonsense replies will also be deleted and hijacked replies will also be deleted. If there is a constructive discussion about the topic it will not be deleted. Criticism on the topics will not be tolerated, hence the reply will be deleted. All in all, keep your fingers to yourself unless you have something usefull to say. Complaints about forumers should be posted in the suggestions area. Replies which only contain or 1 liners will be deleted. -The Moderator__________________ Based on my recent unpleasant experience I had recently made the following request:- "I therefore humbly request that you strive to maintain some dignity and decorum to the forum and reprimand rude , offensive, odious and obnoxious member(s) from making this forum a laughing stock. I call for maturity and courtesy in forum participation. Enough of this barbaric and crude posting style. If there is a moderator in this forum, I appeal to you to reprimand such rude, offensive, odious and obnoxious member(s) from bringing disrepute to this forum." I therefore hope that there is henceforth stricter control over delinquent , rude and obnoxious forumers. Forumers and members alike should be reminded to be courteous and polite in thier postings. Capital letters and large fonts serve no purpose apart from being annoying and rude. Such postings should be deleted and the poster warned. I hope my suggestions are taken in good faith as the reputation of this forum is at stake. Thank you.

do you mind elaborating further? like putting forward examples? i think sometimes a little chit chat is ok but not those that totally OOT and those who hijack / tumpang threads, and i hate spammers too. the mods do a good job removing the rubbish spam that always appear.

My concern is delinquent , rude and obnoxious forumers.

I also find the practise of using very large fonts in replying to a post very annoying and rude.

I dont mind chit chat and occasional off topic postings which are inevitable in an open forum but decorum should be maintaned.

I have decided to post this topic as a result of my own recent experience and you can track my recent threads to see what I mean.

Of course such attitude is not prevalent but if it remains unchecked it may very well go out of control every time someone is "displeased" with anortherr's comment or post.

We have to act in a civilised manner as the forum is a public forum accessible to anyone on the www.

If a posting is made by a forumer you can agree, diagree , agree to disagree or just ignore the post.

There is no need for abusive and rude remarks which ultimately only embarrass the forum and theclub itself.

First of all, are the rules created in the first place reasonable or need amendment or not, I think it pretty much covers all. So much so, I felt its a little too strict.. If those are adhere 100%.. no more fun lio.. too serious.. :smokin: But the maintenance thread for example is a serious thread, thus off topic posting MUST not be tolerated.

In moderating my other forum, I allow no more than few off topic postings before dropping in a friendly reminder to bring them back into topic. So far so good and members are all understanding bunch.

Compare to this forum, this has far more traffic and while I'm typing this, at least 5 more postings are posted elsewhere in this forum, it takes many moderators to take care of this forum.. so far I have seen only one... Betty jump in to lock the DevineGirl newbie thread.. cool but funny reason given when closing the thread.

Moderators are all I believe volunteered and working for FREE. So cannot blame them for missing out on certain postings, they work on best effort basis. Obviously moderating is not their full time job. Just like TM services.. no SLA signed..

Moderators also can have conflicting ideas on whether to ban a member or not. I have seen moderator resigned (sacked) because moderator say ban, administrator say cannot ban. Young arrogant member, Administrator want to give chance. Moderator say if you don't ban, other will follow and make moderating job difficult in the future, must ban or the moderator resign... nasty situation..

Sometime we call each other up to decide what to do and who should drop the warning, and what tone to use.

So anxious, its not that simple..

If you ask me, I would say this forum needs more moderators due to the heavy traffic. Too many moderators also will make managing the moderators a nightmare.

If all members/forumers behaves and stay within topic, it makes moderating task a lot easier..

i believe i had enough of you posting so many issues to the forum, regardless it been intoxicating others to fuel your questions of your immaturity mind of yours inclusive agonizing the committee....

if you have any personal issues to the Club, then resolved it outside...

Can you stop being a small boy and grow up...

If you are so concerned about this and that in the Forum picking on this and that, please leave this forum for good..
With your sense of bickering, you have drag so many members into foray heated words being exchanged.. even XXX and Lee will have sentiments outside this forum and it's hurting the club..Badly..

Did you know that it will be you that ' it's the day the club' died if this continue..Of which many years of planning, time, dedication has gone into making it possible..
Where were you 5 years ago when the club started ? i can only presume you just were in University...

for goodness sake shut up and be just like normal and be constructive..

My wife even knows when to stop bickering....


By the way, i dun care if you reply to my posting or the issue of the posting. That's all i have to say...since i have not met you yet, i wont' know what sort of person you are in the real world...dun worry, it's not a personal attack on you..

i suggest close thread la since this is the job of moderators and members as well as committee members. its their descretion on what is allowed and what is not allowed. if not happy then pm the moderator/committee/members for action. i think posting it publicly will only generate negative thoughts.

Agree with Alex, such query should directly PM the committee and I am very sure the committee welcomes ideas and suggestions and would discuss among themselves to come out with an appropriate answer or solution.

If u not happy with certain member/forumer's posting, complain to committee lor. Give them a chance to explain and take action.

They are many hard cord passionate people around, just like when people saying your daughter and wife is ugly or bitchy. How? U keep quiet ah? At such instances, you might be abusive too! If you are not, then I pitty your missy..

Discussion about dirty laundry in the open forum is not good la. Correct?

Unless the committee fail to address your concern via PM, then you may want to seek common consensus from the members/forumers, maybe via TT discussion before opening up a thread to attract all sorts of emotional feedbacks from relevant and irrelevant people. They may take this opportunity to fire each other. See what u have done?!

Look at it this way, what ever answer the committee provides, they are sure people who do not agree, impossible to please all ma. Then this thread will never end. How?

Rules are rules... even if u have to sacrifice a paid & contributing member just like the Group 1 fellas in HPC overtaking in the corner. Give them a black flag.. We place our lives in your hand. Use the flag wisely, the chosen one!

Power are given to u for a reason and with great power, comes with great responsibility.. use it with care. Don't know how to use it? Get someone to guide u, shy to use it? Pass it to some one else.

A lot has been said after anxious started the thread. Hope his queries been answered so can tutup thread. If not, PM the committee for further clarification. No more off topic material to stir unexpected turn of emotions.. :wink:

Sorry I was asked to explain my reasoning for the closure of this thread, its not abt the thread its about the person who started this thread I have got alot off calls to close this thread bcos people are bored with all this crap at this moment in time...it is causing disharmony amongst members and forumers.
So until things cool down, we shall see if it should be started again.

At the mean time lets have some peace, CNY just around the corner, better still go get yourself more involved in the coming election of this country.
