air flow sensor

hi guys, need ur advice on air flow sensor, my car now in worksyop and the mech told me that i need to change air flow sensor.he said second around 6++ and new 2k..recently just change steering rack for 650 all in become 1300..thanx guys

Have your mechanic try open up the AFM and clean it Up? If he does not know then go to someone who knows about it.

Even the AFM for my car E36 M43 cost 2.6K new and this is not auto bavaria price. Two local BMW spare part shop in PJ quoted me this price.
Have heard that can purchase the AFM direct from BOSCH and it only cost around RM800. Anyone bought from BOSCH before and care to share?

Just got mine change few days ago... cost for AFM recond RM700.00/ RM2300 (new)..me took the recond one. I've also change the diiaphram @RM180.00.

The AFM of an E36/E30 are purely mechanical part with a temperature sensor and slider with a potentiometer function. try to bug that..:stupid:

Yeah, purely mechanical and serviceable. Just dismantle it and clean it with Choke and Carb Cleaner like what Jarance did on mine, jeng jeng jeng... then you'd get an AFM that performs relatively better.
