I just got this E46 325i. The tyre size is different with the manual. The size stated for 325i in the manual is 205/50R17.The tyre fix on the car is 225/45R17. According to the salesperson, this rim size is for 523i.Is 225/45R17 fit for E46 325i?What is the best recomendation for 225/45R17?I found the price vary very much.

The manual is for standard tyres. Some model have variation.

A picture of your rim would tell us whether the rim have been upgraded by the previous owner.

My E46 have 18" - front 225 and rear 265. but then again mine is M sport version and the previous owner say that it is fitted as standard when he first got it from AB.

The most important thing is whether you have any problem with the present tyres. Sometime the front and rear are different size as well.

bro, 225/45/17 is a correct size. Open your door and you'll see a tyre size and pressure sticker. It,s stated there.
If you're running on 523 rims, i'm sure it will rub the fender all the time. Have you experience that?

Yeah..245/40 17 rear, this size hard to get also. Not many brands has this size.

Advice needed: Can I use 215/45R17?

The Michelin Dealer nearby said I can use 215/45R17.

He said it is cheaper and easier to find.

He said 225/45R17 is more rare.

So, can I use 215 instead of 225?

What is the best price for:

1) Pilot Preceda PP2 225/45R17
2) Pilot Preceda PP2 215/45R17

Sorry for bringing up an old post.
Currently is looking for a new set of tyre changing, so need some advice on selecting tyre size.
My current rim is 17x7.5" (4 pcs), tyre size is 225/45/17, which should be the standard tyre size according to E46 setup.
However, check with tyre shop and found out that if I choose 215/45/17, I can get 20-30% cheaper for the same model of tyre.
Wonder can I change to 215/45/17? Will the tyre over stretch on 7.5" rim? Will the meter and mileage been affected?
