check for cast-in identifications ( meaning it's part of the castings and not stamped/engraved types )...that's best bet.
since it's bought......too late if it's a replica rite? but even replicas, there are different grades. I have a Japanese made replica, which is okay but then mine's a simple E30......
my sincere advise to your bro, use it and be happy....
ori ones are pretty light compared to replica..but to really be sure ori ones has the words ACSchnitzer cast written at the back of one of the spokes.on the back of another spoke the word RONAL will be cast written..
i've got two sets of ori ACs..type2 and type3.the type3 is lighter by 30% compared to the type2.
nowadays the later AC alloys are made by BBS..still cast though..forged rims are waaay more expensive.
personally i strongly advise him to keep the wheel but he kept telling me wanna downgrade to 17". what worries me that he might kena con if he change it at tyre shop that mostly sell taiwanese wheels.
in 1 instance the shop just offer him around 1K for the rim while i check in other shop that sell BMW and Merc wheel, the guy said that this type of wheel cost about 6.5K in the market for original la.
even if he wanna change it i dont wanna him kena con by paying more for less quality wheels. that why i wanna check it out 1st.
well,if ots ori tell him to keep it..ori 18s will weigh less than 17 replica and the ori ones will last u forever! my type2 is already 7yrs old but they are still very very good without ever being bent despite our local roads.. still used it till about 5months ago and they are still spotless!!
well,u get what u pay for bro!!
and FYI an ori AC rim will cost rm9k..
