Eventually someone is gonna need some info on this and will somehow google this out so:N54B30s in F02s do suffer from HPFP failures just like what's been happening with the 135i/335i/535i/X6/Z etc. As the N54 has been replaced by the N55 from last year onwards, there's only a limited few early 740Lis that will be affected. This is important as '09 cars should be hitting their 2nd year soon, which may put some out of warranty, especially grey imports.HPFP failure symptoms would start with long crank times, which I did experience. 10-15 second crank was worrying. This was then followed with the car displaying engine fault checks and engaging limp home mode.BMW service quickly recognised the fault, as our local authorised dealers have been taking care of quite a few of these recently. And by quite a few I mean damn a lot.The HPFP will be replaced with an updated N55 pump which should be more robust. BMW Malaysia will give a 2 year warranty for this new pump, which sucks compared to the 10 year/120k mile warranty they get in the States.
