Dear Sifus,Recently I had change to the new radiator fan and the car fan looks like not running in 2 speed mode. How do i check whether the fan is running on high speed mode when required?

For E34 you look for the temp sensor at the RHS of the radiator and use a jumper on the connectors to test low and high speed for the fan. E36 not so sure but the low speed should come on when you turn on the AC and the high speed should only come on when it gets hot enough. In high speed you should be able to clearly hear the fan running.

Thanks Bro.Hope this will help the mechanic to verify the working of fan on both speed.

I'm facing the same problem and now my 318I E36 is running on low speed mode only. According to my mechanic (Berlin Motor Works), low speed mode is enough for 318 E36 engine. It is true?

You can clearly hear & differentiate low speed & high speed mode. Keep your car started for 10 minutes & open up your hood. You can even feel the difference when the wind blows on your engine.

Can anybody advise me which workshop should i go to check & reactivate my high speed mode? Thanks

Better to test with the jumper first to determine if fan is working. If fan is working on both high and low speed then it is likely your temp switch is faulty.
