I just hope BMW matches the performance of their rivals. Even come 2010, the legendary 325i sports which was the highest performing saloon among its main rivals - Audi and Merc in its class in Malaysia will be over shadowed in performance. The new Merc C250 CGi and new A4 2.0 Quattro TSI with DSG will both have it for lunch at the stoplights. So sad. No news on a more capable engine yet from BMW to match these 2 rivals for the 325i.

So, a few months left to bully the W204 C230 V6 and B8 A4 1.8T. Go and tiong yours today.

*burp* Thanks Unkle for the nice lunch hehe.

I still believe among those three marques the 325sports handles more efficiently...but then without test driving the Quattro and C250 i might be wrong..stoplights sure kena tapao one haha..

Ouch.. lucky I bought E90 not because of tapao or tapaoed at stop lights.. such situation is best use a light weight turbo 4WD.. something like EVO or Impreza would be ideal. And you just need a Wiralution with minimal investment to perform at par with the C250 and Quattro.. keep the E90 for "real" road.

My investment in E90 is pure for bends, enjoying the balanced chassis and CG distribution, the feeling of sitting in the pivoting point when the car is negotiating turns, so even 4-potter E90 would do equally well in this domain... not chasing stop-start pickup.. :p

Generally in BMW's history and generation of their 3 series sold here in Malaysia, it has always outperformed Merc and Audi, whether straight line or bends, model for model. Times have changed, and if you ask me, BMW is slacking off on the engine and tranny dept for its run of the mill lineup while its rivals have caught up. Without a comparable engine option, the decline wil surely see BMW loyalist with their high demand to always be in front and on top of the pack switch camps to BMW's main rivals.

True and totally agree with u.... u may want to go down DY's path and its wrong to say BMW stops at N52B25, David didn't.. :D

Seat Leon TDI took the 2009 WTCC championship for both driver and manufacturer trophies. Seat with their Turbo Bio Diesel FWD, again and again prove to be a faster car on track.. but lose miserably in the wet during the Okayama round..

Here's a clip which show the BMW accidents in last week's Macau race..

Same fella also involved in another heavy crash earlier this year, this one is interesting! ENJOY!

Ya true. There are always faster cars you can buy for your $$$. Sadly for ~RM300k range for a new car, BMW will be the slowest "sports sedan" among its rivals in 2010 in Malaysia.

What would be nice is if BMW offers the DCT tranny and mate it with the N52B25 power plant to keep the flag flying till they come up with a new forced fed power plant for the 325i. Imagine the tuning options available with a turbo charged BMW.

BMW has very powderful diesel engine, N47D20 T0, that produces 204hp/400NM torque. It may be put to use in WTCC in 2010.

Seriously, the C250 and Quattro are going to be retailing at RM300k? I saw the E250 and it's going for RM458k !! Same engine, RM150k difference?!

Ya thats what the merc salesman said for the C250. Replaces the C230 V6 and will be priced similarly. Available in 2010. Faster, lighter and it was a big hit in the China market which is Merc's biggest market in the region. So all engine lineups for the region will follow what the chinese want for their cars.

Yeah, I think they'll ultimately be in a higher price range too. What are you doing talking to Merc salemen, E46F?

Power is nice to have for sure, but not just after paying RM800 today for the 4 speeding tickets I picked up in the last couple of months. Bummer!

I think the next E9x lunch/meeting we should have it near some Audi or Merc showroom. Feed the tummy + feed the senses.

I buy u guys lunch next time ok? (I think there is a Mc D's near the Audi showroom in Bangsar :p)

That Audi showroom is on the verge of collapsing la.. I dare not step foot inside that showroom.. not even if there's a naked lady in there calling my name.. :D :D

Shhhh Astro! Ya E46F, several McDs in One Bangsar near the Audi: Vincenzo's, House of Tang, BSR, etc. :)

This will not happen. Even if it happens, I am very sure the F30 replacement model will be bare model while the E90 will be loaded with add-on in order for them to be sold at the same price. Just like in 2005 where the E90 came out while they're still selling the E46. What was the price difference then? The E46 was CKD and was selling at about RM220k loaded with goodies while the E90 was CBU and were selling at RM260k, no Xenon, no electric seat, smaller wheels, no rain sensor, just to name a few.. not to mention the many problems found in the earlier batch of the new model which takes time to resolve and make later batches a more reliable unit.

It normally takes 1 to 2 years to get the replacement model CKD here in order to qualify for lower duties, and in the meantime your existing car would continue to depreciate, despite at a slower rate than a new car.. so u do the maths and find your entry point. I am sure this entry point varies from one individual to another..

.. and Schwepps, thanks for the lunch..

u have ur points too !:)

Looks good eh?

Chris Bangle = Eagle look, Adrian van Hooydonk = Shark look. Both fitting metaphors.

Other marques try to look like each other. BMW sets the trends like no other. :top:
