Anyone has 19" or larger rims on their E60?Any comments on comfort compromise, power difference?

For a saloon, in asia, maybe. Saw 22" rims on X5 before though, in Malaysia! Can hardly see tyres, just rims only with a black rubber band tied around them :p

Damn!! 22" - its like ridin on metal - must be darn unfomfortable!!
OSFlanker, how's your 5? u bought an alfa i heard?

WHOA! 20" will be too big and uncomfortable. There are quite a few posts on e60.net about regrets installing 20".

I think these looks nice with Sports Package (lowered suspension).

They are M172 double spoke designs on Michelin PS2 245/35 R19 front and 275/30 R19 rear.

My opinion. 18" is ideal for the challenging terains of POT HOLED Bolehland..

   very well said.

I've seen 22" on X5 and 21" on E65. But I reckon these cars are made to carry gigantic rims. The depth of their wheel arch is just unbelievable. HUGE! Not sure if 22s on the X5 will affect it's comfort level though as it still seems pretty high to me.

19"s are quite common in 5series. Looks wonderful especially in E60. :D

For 3series, 18" is the max I would go. Come to think of it, if you lower your ride accordingly, even 17"s are sufficient. Then you'll e able to achieve a balance between comfort and looks.

But remember, once you exceed 18", those rims better be originals! :beaten: Tyre will kill you but what da heck. Nobody complains about rubber costs when they can afford a RM400k+ car.

I actually rode in a E46 with 19" BBS Motorsport rims. The ride is not that bad. However, some modification was required to be made to the fenders as the tyres will rub on full turn.

I went for the launch of the E90 and it had a 19" on the display car and it looked awesome!!!

I think the 19" on the E60 should look pretty good too. Any members got 19's on any UDMs?

I think the new M3s come with 19" standard.

Gone were the days when we get the shivers upgrading from 14" to 16". Then 17" sounds horrifying. It's very scary. Now 18" and 19" is like a walk in the park. Hahahah....

hehe..that is not my car. I would like my car to look like that!!
I saw this pic in another forum, and kept the pict, as it looks so perfect.

The wheels are 19", as you can see, 19" with sports suspension look soooo niceee..

I am 'planning' 18" for my E60 as there are just too many potholes here the stock 16" type 134 are YUCKS!!!

Yeah, 19s on the 5 looks pretty good, esp with lowered suspension. things is, changin all these will void the darn warranty and my wife will give me a hard time abt voiding the warranty!! Should be the same in M'sia?

I didn't know changing rims would void the warranty. Not as if you're messing around with the performance part or something. Then again, when you upgrade your rims, I supposed your suspension will need to be altered as well. :p

Buyer beware they say, so modders beware too. You may be voiding warranty if you use bigger rims.. Check with you dealer!!

BreytonE60,
bought a 523i recently? care to share the reason why u pick 523i?
test drove the 523i last month, found it lack of power under spirited driving..but 177bhp is enuff for daily driving and relax highway cruising.

I was driving the E39, had it for 3 years, find the E60 more beautiful....could not resists..hahah ;) ... all the 5ers look alike to me externally, except for a bit of cosmetics adjustments here and there. The 523i is entry level car....in a few years can give excuse to wifey requesting an upgrade due to lack of power ler.. kekeke.

No denying that, honestly, if we count the hours that we actually spent driving 'spritedly' in KL, that is too few. so for me, 177bhp, is not a lot but the BMW driving dynamics are still there to be enjoyed in a 523i, besides for true true exhilirating power, 218bhp also tak cukup le...we will need the 550bhp?? :)

well, lets just say, i m easily satisfied... :p ....for the moment.. :D till itchy again...haha

thanks for sharing.. B) how old are you btw, if you dont mind me asking.. :p

well, i 'AM' still tempted to go for the E60 mainly for the looks also. besides, its a bigger car overall (i mean compared to E90). i like the 523i comfortable ride except for loud wind noise driving at 140kph thereabout. love the idrive and the cabin design which feels better than E90..maybe the non-idrive on E90 leaves out too much space on the dash making it looks too simple.

fyi, i'm 30. Skinny and 5' 7' only. 5 series may not look right for me...like driving dad's car! :D so i went with E90.

Having driven the 5 series, I can't see how one can really drive spiritly (hard cornering, zig-zag, attack corners), unless you are driving an M5 or a 540 perhaps. The car is pretty heavy and even a 530 would not be able to do the late break and sprint out of a corner without feeling a little sluggish. To me, I think the 3 series is much suited to spirited drives. 5 has a refined motive to it and probably was designed that way for a reason.

Having said, sometimes, sluggishness has nothing to do with sprited driving or hard driving. The car just seems to require a lot before you feel some excitement which often make me feel guilty for overrevving on such refined machine.

my fren, size don't matter, unless perhaps you weigh in at 300 pounds or something. (forgive me for being politically impolite or improper). My wife is abt 5"5 (i think!!) or is it 5"6' (better not let her read this), smallish built and even she drives the 5 series. She wanted the E90 but I said to her she will look big in it... get the E90. You will not regret it. p.s. If you have kids, the E60 IS the car for you.

Have checked with AB, they say that changing wheels will not void the warranty as long as you maintain the correct Ratios of wheels and tires according to mfr specs. Plus Sizing must be done correctly. :D

age does not matter le..

as what Poison said, a bigger car can carry more! hahaha

E60 is more serious looking car, business class & family sedan, while the E90 has a upcoming young executive look.

IMHO, the E90 is simple and elegant too! BTW, your size frame fits the E60 well, you will appreciate the spaciousness of the E60 compared to the E90 if you plan to keep the car long. haha...adding members of the family i mean...

I tend to even find the E60 slightly tight on leg room at the rear, so, i can't imagine the E90. Nevertheless, there is also the question of "budget"!!

And yes, if there is plan for an expansion of family members, the 60 is roomier.
