Hi fellow bimmer riders!I'm thinking of changing my standard 528i Goodyear excellence 18 inch RFTs that came with the car to cheaper 18 inch RFTs. However, I don't really want to sacrifice on my safety through lousier thread tire structure, tire threads wearing off quickly, etc. Therefore, I was wondering whether anyone here has changed their tires to other 18 inch RFT models. If so, it'll be great if you can provide your 2 cents here on the new tire model that your car's wearing! Also, it'll be fantastic if you can provide the price as well! Thanks in advance!

Changed to Continental CSC 3 RFT (528i m sport mixed tyre sizes) in Penang recently. All in RM6.3k. CSC3 was the only tyre I could find in Penang in the sizes that I needed. Have driven about 1000km on the new tyres. All-round better than the Goodyear Sportmaxx GT that came with the car - better wet grip, less noise. Aquaplaned a few times on the old tyres - glad to be rid of them. Good luck!

Thanks for the help, tsh. Those RFT tires of yours look not too bad. I'll probably be shopping around for those tires in KL. I'm currently using the Goodyear Excellence tires coz my car's the non M-sport 528i version and my tires aquaplaned many times travelling on the north south highway and even at not so heavy rain travelling at about 80 kmh! Will let everyone know how the search goes!

What's the average price for michelin ps2 tires? From your experience, any good?

My ori Goodyear 17 inche was also aquaplaning. When I change to Continental RFT,
notice much better grip and quieter. But it is wearing out much faster.

If you are not too concerned about RFT or the branded ones like CSC, GY and Dunlop, you may want to consider using the Falken FK453, I had my 528i changed to that during a trip to Singapore. I paid less then RM4K all in for the 4 wheels.

I reckon saving an average of RM2K instead of using RFT, I would be able to get my car towed about 10 times over the course of the next 50,000 kilometres if my tyres give way.

The ride is much quieter, less harsh and better braking distance than the original tyres that came with the car.

Also be prepared to change the front wheels earlier since dynamic steering is a rubber burner....

I have experience withe the Contis as well in my previous BMW and agree with KHT that the wear is faster.

Thanks guys. I ended up getting the conti csc3 run flats at rm1500 a piece for 18 inch ones. Cheaper than the goodyear excellence run flats (1800 a piece). However, the ride quality seem to be harsher. I'm not too sure whether i've got to change my tyre pressure but the tyre sizes are similar. Anyone knows whether the tyre pressure has got to change too? Will update everyone later on in regards to tyre wear but it seems the wear and tear is ok so far.

I ditch the RFT and got Michelin Super Sports non RFT. Enjoying the ride. No longer the harsh noisy . Now full control comfortable and confident.

Malaysia can get the 18" Michelin Super Sports for M Sport 528i? I check online and can't seem to find the right size.

I'm new with UDM, is it possible to ditch the RFT and get high performance non-RFT with a spare rim and tyre keep in the boot for emergency?

I have 18' Michelin Pilot Super Sport all round, non staggered, and a pump kit in the boot.
