Hi anyone of u using Run Flat Tyres(RFT) ??? my 18 inch RFT originally from Japan...Pls advice me any Pro & Con of this tyres ok. as i now this tryes is a bit bumppy.tq

I am using them.. yeah it's a bit bumpy but I love them. no worries about having flat tire in the middle of nowhere..

your RFT still new or not? if new and you plan to change them to normal tire.. please PM me....

cheers..

Personally, I can't stand the bumpy-ness of the RFTs.. that's why I changed them after a few months.
If the RFTs are still considerably new.. ie more than 60-70% or higher.. u can always sell or simply trade them with normal tires :D but don't forget to buy a spare tire in your boot just in case.. cost about RM1.5k :D

the read the code from my rft is 3406; mean manufactured in 2006, originally from Japan.

Change lo.. Ur tires are more than 3 years which should be changed anyway

I just bought 4 Msport Rim with 80% threads of RFT (From fellow forummer in BMWCLub).... i havent installed that onto my E60 yet as the E60 is under repaint and refurbishment...

This car is for my wifey and she already complain on NO BUMPY RIDES PLS !!! So i thought of changing that to Normal tires....

ADAM MF, If u want it, u can view it and lets discuss over the price.... i just wanna change that to normal tires ;) heheh

Btw dear all bros here... can i ask u all something ??? Sorry to hijack the thread...

I got 4 wheels running on 18" Msport with 245/40/18.... In case any of the tyre puncture... the spare tyre is original 16" running on 225/50/16 (if i am not mistaken).... So in emergency cases, is it OK to run on 3 18" with 245/40/18 and 1 16"/225/50/16 ? Just to get to the nearest tyre workshop..

OR must i get another similar wheel with similar tyre profile ?

Thanks !!!

Jack

bro just my opinion no offense, but i would think twice about swapping out RFTs especially for a lady driver driving alone...my mum loves the ride and i feel better about her driving everywhere alone because i know that she can always return home even with a flat tire

The spare tire should be 17"... the size should be 135/80R17 (if I'm not mistaken) as that's the only kit available for E60 :top: bigger than that, you will have to sacrifice boot space to fit :D
don't worry.. just make sure 2 things:
1) The spare tire is inflated periodically to ensure running condition
2) your wife is equipped with tire changing skills :D hard but this is a survival skill that has to be learned. Even my wife who doesn't know how to change tire before now learn the importance of it. Thanks to my constant nagging and persistence in teaching her the skill

Some E60 come with spare tire but some don't... so please check it out ok?

not unless she knows how to change the tire... :D

i have a question. what happens if your RFT has a puncture? do you guys patch the hole or change a new 1?

Me too, i bought my car not more then a month but i was feel that my RFT really bumpy, my tire is 245/40/18 and now i was using 20" normal tire more comfort then the RFT...hehe

yesterday on my way back to shah alam after CNY holiday my RFT burst after hitting the big hole on the east west highway about 50km to Grik. The road condition really bad. Continue my jurney average 80km/hr and arrived savely after 400km traveled. Thank to RFT
