Monday March 31, 2008 Conrad Mojuntin acquitted of criminal intimidation charge By RUBEN SARIO KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah minister Datuk Conrad Mojuntin, 61, has been acquitted of a charge of criminal intimidation in connection with the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man outside Penampang near here about three years ago. The Magistrate Court also acquitted Conrad and his nephew, David Mojuntin, 45, of causing hurt in relation to the same incident. Conrad was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation against one Doughty Disimon outside the SJD club in Penampang new township on Oct 23, 2005. He was also jointly charged with David for causing hurt to one Chee Hee Fatt, 45, outside the bank in Donggongon town on the same date. In freeing both men, Magistrate Zaini Fishir ruled that the defence had raised some doubts in the prosecution’s case. Senior Federal Counsel Suhaimi Ibrahim said they intended to appeal the judgement.
