Hello guys, I just diagnose my car today after seeing the low windshield fluid light turned on after refilling the washer tank twice over the last 2 days and it looks like it is the pump which is leaky, I think a seal broke inside the pump. Do you know where I can buy the pump in Malaysia? These pumps are not expensive but you know because some people feel that since they fix BMW they should charge a premuim :stupid: So any information would be much appreciated.Cheers!Ferdi

the seal is cheap.. can be found at many bmw shops at jalan ipoh..

it's just a small 'O' ring.. even your workshop guys wont hurt your wallet..

cheers..

Its the seal inside the pump that is kaputt, I checked the grommet seal and it seems okay, the leak is coming from the pump. Maybe I wasn't clear when I say "seal inside the pump" in my original post :)

Update: Bought a pump for RM$70.00 made by VDO but from its workmenship I doubt it, probably a compatible but what to do, Kuching market is small lah only a handful of people who sell BMW spare parts, it is 50% cheaper than AB and it is easy to install so you can pretty much safe RM$200 easy to just DIY.

I had similar issues, firstly the fluid warning came on and the floor had water leakage but after two water refill, the leakage stops but the windshield washer pump stop working. I changed my washer pump before....

Wonder what wrong with it...

i had the same issue, seems common when lifespan is up, its a small cylinder pump, cost around RM 80 including installation

Stan my guess would be that your leak was from your pump, and your dead pump somehow died in a position that stopped the water from flowing :)

mine leaking also..
just covered it up with the black glue which they used for the windshield..
and it work..
no more leaking..
haha..
FOC..

if it is leaking.....put a bit of silicon on the mating surfaces.....when dry lar.

My pump broke....the extended bit and a new black pump was needed so I bought it from BA....cannot recall price but its CHEAP and did a DIY install.....PRESTO nice powderful jet and that was like a year plus now.

Damm easy and satisfying fix!

Gents, no point trying to fix the pump with glue or silicone. If not mistaken, when the leak happens, water escapes through the "pressure regulating inlet", if u try to cover it up, you just disable the pump.

In any case, I've replaced mine twice already, once at the 55,000km and another recently at 70,000km. You can get a replica at Bavarian Auto Parts (I think that's the name of the short, PM me if u do not know the place!!) in Jalan Ipoh, price, only RM35/-.

U obviously have little DIY experience and can afford to pay for new.....I salute u, cos u keep our vendors rich and afloat!

No wonder E46 so expensive-lar....

Before u flame me - I am giving advice based on my own e30 ownership and DIY is part of the experience, but that's my 2 cents. E46...well maybe no applicable lor.

A little presumptious of you, but if you think after spending weeks trying to repair a smallish water pump with glue, silicone to come with a half arsed working pump plus wasting time filling your wiper water tank every alternate day is better than a straight forward RM30/- solution than my hats off to you.... Keep the DIY spirit alive, you're a real inspiration...
