Changed my windscreen on my SLOTH a few months back from the original BMW windscreen to the local one. The original windscreen was bad scratched and certain areas were pitted. A hazard to use especially at night and when its raining. Took half-day to have the windscreen changed. I did not discern any difference in terms of soundproofing between the original BMW and local windscreen. Well, my speeds are generally, ahem, at the national speed limit and "slightly" higher. There might be some difference if I were to go above 200+ kmh (which is above the capabilities of SLOTH anyway). So Lee, you might have had an air leak in your old windscreen.
