So the one on display is probably not going to be the type of engine sold in the local market.  DPF is more for environmental purposes, to further lower the emission of harmful gases that is emitted as a by product of engine combustion. I think it needs Euro4 diesel for it before it can work.  We did a test by putting a tissue paper on the exhaust, and very little if any carbon soot was noticed, cleaner than petrol engine I must say. The smell which could be a little nauseous, is attributed to sulphur.  One point to note, our local diesel offerings, specifically the 320d will not achieve 4.1l/100km, as it is does not come with the full Efficient Dynamics package.
