Whirring sound from the engine

hey, i'd like to know whether this is a normal situation or not. It just started yesterday, when i rev my engine slightly, as the rpm goes down, a whirring sound could be heard from the engine bay. Its more obvious when u lightly twitch the steering wheel to one side (the car is stationary). What could be the problem ? Thanks

Power steering pump or hose?

I had the similar sound, especially when turning my steering. Later found out my Power Steering hose was leaking ...
