im trying to replace my waterpump.. i tried removing the old one by screwing the two m6 bolts i read on the internet but a part of the waterpump broke but its still stuck.. i tried hammering it but still wont budge.. i removed the thermostat still makes no differents.. i dunno what else i should remove to take out the waterpump.. any ideas??

the part where the m6 bolt is screwd broke.. the whole waterpump is still stuck.. i cant get it to budge.. im worried if i whack that thing too hard it will damage other parts of the engine..

If the m6 screw stuck, i suggest u dont try to force it as the inner thread will lose. Is there anyway for u to create a thread on top of the broken screw? Say create a philips-like thread? If u have pic, it will b nice

Pic no 2 d broken part is from your waterpump. If u can take it out, u can dump it. Pic 3 the broken screw is at 12 o'clock. What i mean is that, u try to whack the broken screw using chisel to create a thread on top of it. Then u can try remove it using screwdriver.

Im sure the screw hole and thread will damage n when putting a new screw, i suggest u put loctite

okay.. il try using the chisel technique first.. btw.. what does loctite do?

Lock tight is used as a glue la to avoid your screw loose. Just in case your waterpump loose which can lead to leak, put this on so your waterpump will b hold firmly. Try google Loctite. Can bought at local stores

hows your car bro? any updates? its pain in the a** to remove a screw with a bugger thread. my friend was once blowing his spark plug causing the mechanic headache to remove the lower part of it:wink:

Waterpump removing

Bro Fics,
From pic no 2, looks like there is still one screw which holds the waterpump that is not taken out yet.
That is why when you screw the M6 screw onto the water pump body it would not budge. How many screws
that holds the waterpump did you remove?

i think these 3 screws.. i dont think that screw can be open.. ur talking about dis right ---->View attachment 22820 i tried to open it using alen key but still wont budge.. i think im gona try find a drill or sumthin and just break da waterpump..

ok after googleling i think that thing is the prob.. so i gues since i cant open it using alen key then i just have to whack it until its breaks..

Waterpump removing

Bro Ficz,
Be careful how you whack the allen screw. If not correctly done it can damage other parts as well. There is a technique
to loosen the screw in this situation. You have to use a chisel and knock at the top/right side of the screw at a 45 deg angle. This way
you are applying force to turn it counter clock wise to loosen it. Before you start whacking give it a good amount of WD-40 to facilitate
easy loosening. Good luck trying and keep us updated.

Don't whack it, u may cause more damages.
Try the following:
- Get a drill (a small 500W on will do) and buy a small metal-based drill bit. Drill to create a small groove on the broken screw.
- Buy a set of those thread-making screws available on most hardware stores. Use one with a suitable size and turn to screw it in either with a small spanner or a plier. This would create a new thread on the broken screw.
- Remove the thread-making screw. As u do this, the broken screw should turn together and come out as well. Or else use a bigger screw to remove it.

I've tried this method many times to remove broken screws in such situations for various things, and it works every time.
I think the reason the original screw broke is because there is already old hardened loctite in it.

Gud luck man.

Btw, the way, the thread-making screws are also called screw extractors here in KL. One good set would cost no more than RM20.

ok i got da screw off.. the waterpump is loose.. but it still wont come out.. haha.. stupidlh dis waterpump.. its not suppose to be dat hard to take out..

Happened to me before. Luckily my mechanic (in Bandar Sri Putra) managed to take it out.
