sometimes when i start my car, i get the warning light to check my lights. i switch on and off all the lights, and find nothing wrong, everything in working order.this puzzles me, as it only happens at certain times. sometimes there is no problem. has anyone experience something like this before? or is it a wiring problem?

did u install angel eyes or change after market bulbs? if so, then it's common i think..

If this is the same problem like my previous E39, i have experienced this before, it is caused by one bulb loose or going to blow/die. You have to find it out one by one or wait until it dies.

Too lazy to check one by one, when it happens, you switch on all lights and see which one is blown!

Did you install HID? HID power is rated to about 35 watt whereas you normal bulb is 55 watt.

If that is the case, then you might have connect additional load to bluff the electronic that the bulb is working.

This also happens on my dad's E46 valvetronic, my case is loose contact on the rear backlight housing. A common fault for E46 but the stupid thing it goes on and off i.e sometimes ok sometimes not, try knock the tail lamp a bit housing from trunk inside if the check light turns on. Good luck trying!

the is a classic problem with e36 as well. To solve the problem, remove the bulb holder. Prise the contacts on the lamp holder upwards to bring the contact a bit forward. clean the contact if there a sign of burnt mark. It solve your problem.

thanks for the reply guys. no, i did not install angel eyes or HID.

ersalle, i will try when i see the warning light again.. it appears its not acting up at the moment... weird thing..

Dalcross, the weird light had been haunting my dad for quite sometime. Nothing was done actually and now didn't light up i think, if it does i think my dad just open the trunk and tap the rear light backcover heeheheheh

Yeah, think its the back cover - have tightened it up and so far so good, no warning lights!
