I need help and advise. I changed my E39 battery back in 14/12/2007, battery is original BMW battery. Today, the battery just died. When I used a volt meter to measure, it was only 10.8V. Couldn't start the car at all. Battery is less than 2 years old when it should at least last for 4years. I suspect over charging though I haven't tested it before, just a guess. Mileage of car is 199989km, M54B22, 2003 model. Question here is 1) What is the voltage supply when car is running? Will it be more than 14.5V and more? Bro, should be 14.5V. The regulator in the alternator will limit the voltage output. 2) Can I add a voltage stabilizer at the battery to stabilize the voltage? It might help but I doubt it. 3) Anyone added voltage stabilizer to your E39 before? I have never add any VS in my car. Usually I clean the earth/ground contact. 4) What's current cost of battery? Search for delco. I think it depend on the AH and DIN size. before you change the battery, the battery shop should have a device to check the condition of the battery. Sometime the battery cannot charge if the electrolyte level is low.
