Hi all. Am building up a system for my e24 and looking at old skool ICE HU - MB100. Need views.......Have been offered a MB100 still in box unit for a nice price and have been checking for reviews. From the search it seems that you both have had the MB100 before. Puan Ah Lian '- u mentioned about the bad radio reception - just wondering if you managed to overcome this problem - better antenas? Master Van - how was yr exp with the radio recep from the MB100? Did u have similar problems? Amp - Considering the 4 channel Naka PA2400 (2nd hd unit). Alternatives can budget around 1k. Speakers - still looking for used speakers to match in the local ICE forums. Any recommendations for 4 speaker/channel set up for ard 1k (used) If possible dont want a sub in this set up. BTW listen to mainly vocals & jazz - lotsa cuban stuf Any suggestions from the forum sifus? Many thanks in advancevern

Latest update:
HU - Naka MB100
PA - Naka PA1002 (2 channel 50x2)
Speakers - Naka SSP-S52000 (5 1/4)

Next - Naka 12" inch sub plus Naka mono amp?

Most important - need good installer to put this all together in my car and a very good radio antenna.... any suggestions for both from residents sifus on the set up or where to install around KL/Cheras areas?

Thanks!

harlo. how are things? installed already?

sorry din reply for so long. was busy when you posted it and then never got round to replying.

have you decided??

on the radio reception... i found that it was an inherent weakness of the player... there were a couple of other users who found such but we still loved our mb100s despite that becos the sounds from the cd player was so amazing, we could do without the radio.... of cos, whether that wud be acceptable to you depends lor.

you seemed to have been sold things in a package by some naka dealer... well, my comment is, shop around and listen to what other ppl have in their cars or ask what other stuff people have matched it with... cos naka does make everything as excellently... as their old school head units... can mix and match...

if you have decided on the head unit, then next step is on speakers... go listen to a whole range of them... then match that with an amp that can efficiently drive those speakers to their potential. go for clean and efficient amps. if beginner, look for easy to tune amps (for hi/lo cutoffs)... xtants are horrible that way (open up case and jab different connectors)... stegs uses chips... some are using knobs... errr... if not sure... please buy lotsa tt and pai si fu... :smokin:

go join some ice forum and let them all try to poison you... but decide on your budget and stick to it.... the road to ice nirvana cuts deep and bleeds. have fun playing!

vsmpyscho, If you wish to build a full Nakamichi system, I do have PA202(2 channel) and PA204(4 channel) and some 4" to 6.5 '"coxial and componant speakers in my storeroom.

Thanks for the tips...........

Am taking a short break and will continue the quest after Raya hols..

U are right - was offered a packaged deal by Naka dealer :top: even had a 12inch sub but I think its too big & heavy for the car....
