I'm now on non-oem rims and the tyre pressure monitor still works..I believe the system works off the sensors monitoring each wheel's rotational speed so I really doubt that changing to a non-oem wheel will render the tyre pressure monitor inactive. So it's unlike the aftermarket tpms systems where there really is a sensor either in wheel or at the tyre valve.
