BMW Malaysia does not advocate any maintenance transmission oil change for all its  modern BMWs as it is termed “lifetime fill” ATF . Few cases that had occurred previously where customers requested for transmission oil change and the gearbox behaved erractically after the oil change ...rough gear changes occurred and BMW had to replace the entire transmisson  ( new one cost around RM 40K).Now if the customer still insist on changing the gear oil BMW will do so but customers will be made to sign a declaration letter to state that BMW will not be responsible for any malfunction of the gearbox after the oil change. This seems difficult to believe but I guess this is what is happening . Acording to Auto Bavaria they will do gear oil change or reprogramming of the transmission only if there is any problem. Maybe we should find out from other BMW dealers if they are practicing the same. By the way I was quoted RM1.5K by German motors for the ATF change , include labour and new oil pan. Advised to use only original BMW transmission oil .</blockquote>
