The 320i E90 is a very good car in terms of handling-it has the legendary E90 3 series chassis after all! The 4 cylinder N/A engine does have enough grunt, IMHO. So, there will be a lot of times, you will need to have monk-like patience and not just go for it when you have that urge to overtake/speed up from stand still etc. If you are looking at the E90 cars, get the 325i or the 320d. And, if you then put in a chip (Vector or DTUK) into your 320d, you will have the time of your life! Eyeballs-out type of time of your life! And remember, all the outgoing E90 320d come with M Sports specs-lowered, sportier suspensions and most have iDrives. Live the BMW JOY!
