Hello sifus,my E46 318i 2005 gave a tail light error indicator recently... but when I checked, all lights seemed to be working. It goes off after I restart the engine. It would stay off for a few days and occasionally come back on. Each time, it'll go off if I re-start the engine.I don't know whether it's the wiring or the sensor that's gone cuckoo... it's not a major problem, just an annoyance... just wondering how much would it cost to fix... if not too much, then might as well fix it lar.Anyone had experience in this before?

bro, which tail light cartoon came out? the front left/right, or the rear left/right? i encounter the same problem like u as i am driving an E46 318i as well. most likely your bulb didnt contact with the terminal, mine happen on the rear brake light. i took it out and it was abit worn on the electrod tip, i change to a new bulb and oK after that the cartoon on the display never came out again. the rear bulb very cheap only, its a normal bulb u can get in any electrical shop, just take out the bulb and show them. buy from bavarian auto RM 3 only, good luck

The cartoon showing car chasis from top view... then got red light sign at the top right corner (I think that refers to the rear end of the car). As I've not seen all the lights lit up before, I don't know whether that refers to rear right or rear left... and whether it refers to break lights or just normal light...

phew... doesn't sound like it'll cost too much... fingers crossed that it isn't something else... Thanks a lot Mouse!

Hope that changing the bulb helps. My friend's E46 needs to change the light control module or something like that which cause him 500 bucks.
