the car is e36 M3 S50 B30 '95 modelwhat supercharger is suitable for this car and how much boost can it take? a rough price would be good.thank you

I got Energizer, GP chargers... which one u want??? ;)

there's Vortech, ASA, ESS. or even the Toyota superchargers...

so many choices, so little money...

ehhh... is there a difference between supercharger and turbo charger?

me a bit slow when it comes to all this term.. can help clarify a bit.

what car can be supercharge? Mine a e36..

btw, dumb question, how can energiser work in supercharger??? :dunno: :dunno:

i think just about any car can be turbocharged or supercharged, but the parts that might need replacement varies. for turbo the boost comes in later as the turbine is powered by the exhuast gases and superchargers run directly of the engine giving power all the way. my personal preference is supercharged.

fabian, between vortech and ASA which will perform better overall?

Hi Skar,

AA tuning in US makes special Rotrex SC for BMW. They are pricy but top notch in quality!.

The other good make is ESS. I would stay away from ASA as some SC BMW had problems with ASA, I heard before. Never a complain by ESS or AAtuning systems.

Why don't you do chip tuning and intake first or that is done already. The S50 is powerful enough. Maybe lighten that car a little.....

Skar19...

sorry man...I know you are getting to like BMW alot..but if you wanna play force induction, then better to have enuf moolah to do it...its an advise.

there are a lot of Powerful BMW around...but you better think again...cos you yourself ,a mechanical engineering student....Power doesn't come cheap...hope you dun mind ah.. :) Bro... :)

play japanese car first la..180sx..maybe Toyota Ke70,Te71 or perhaps the Kookaburra laughing motorsport KP61..whack first ..!! :nyehehe:

thank you for all the advice,i forgot to mention that is not for me, my uncle own this car haha, the day i own that car or even the engine well...let say not anytime soon la, :dunno:

zoggee, understood and thank you, no hard feelings,

anyway he has money, based in singapore and he wants more torque i am just finding out info for him and where to get the stuff, coz he is busy. i am doing this for him because he is getting my suspension system from Singapore
:yahoo: :yes!: :D

zoggee sorry for the misunderstanding :) i get what you are saying, last time i did think like that, but not now. thank you again

phew....!! I tot you gonna bang me liao... :D

no lah why would i do that, you have more wisdom than me mah! ahhahaha

so zoggee what would be the right supercharger if my uncle want lots of torque?

Dude

ASA, AAtuning or ESS. I would go for ESS myself. Talked to the guys from Europe & US before. They know what they are doing & they provide warranty for the drivetrain. No problems.

Pssst.....After your uncle gets bored with it, i will be interested in the kit for the S50B30. he he h eh eh

u want torque? then supercharger is da way to go...

superchargers give a more linear power n torque band rather than neck breaking turbo only kicking in late at high RPMs...

superchargers give much needed low end torque to small CC engines...

have enquired "Turbo Sang" bout Toyota Estima's superchargers on my E34 n he quoted Rm8k n a power increase of 30%...

that power figures also roughly translate to a 525i output... so im in a dillema... go for M20B25 halfcut leh(much cheaper option...) or go forced induction? :p

thank you all for the response, i emailed ASA and they said there they dont make superchargers for this model anymore.

hi,

i think if u can find a competent installer, go with the engine transplant.. then later when u crave for more umph, can supercharge then.. on the other hand, if u supercharge now, u could sell it separately if u decide to part with the car later.. that's how i came to my decission.. :dunno: gud luck!

torque doesnt depend on supercharger or turbo. design on the engine internals etc ect determined the limitation of the engine... if not y n/a engine can produce in excess of 1000hp like f1 engine ?

linear power on supercharger compare to turbo???.. u got ur fact wrong... :getyourfactsright:
if u choose ur turbo correctly a/r ratio, bearing size etc.., it will spool at lower rpm

im a believer in turbo.. as it provide betta upgrade possibility.. hence more power.. but turbo is not easy to tune... u must hv knowledge to fully utilissed the potential.. i dun say supercharger is bad it has its own limitation.. thats y the swedish dont play with superchargers... :p

i would go with turbo route on b20 engine.. even if u oni get it equal to b25 hp. 30% increase in power is alot i do believe m20 standard internal will hold with 5-6 psi boost..
n once u can handle the new pawa.. change to b25 motor... ull be getting almost 200+ hp... so can u handle the power ???

my 2 kupang....
