Agreed..those supercars should bow to the e36..:77::77::adore::adore:

The car grips and so planted on the tarmac..the acceleration is bizarre..salute to the engineers and pit crews, not forgetting the lusty driver..hehe

Driver sure use earplugs the gearbox whine is unbearable to listen lol Very fast indeed

Yup, earplugs bro..if not, it can turn the driver deaf bro....hehe

the E36 320 is running with a race tuned bored and stroked M42 engine from the 318is... The engine internals are not available for sale. I remember it is running with 86x86 bore:stroke configuration, stock M42 is 84x81 bore:stroke... Max Power is limited to 280bhp as per regulation... The high pitched transmission whine is from the straight-cut sequential gearbox.

The E36 M3 had limited runs in races as there weren't many categories for it to be successful in..
Also, 4 cylinder engines are more favourable in race cars of 2.5L engine and below. Due to the lighter front end which translates to better maneuverability.

What a stunning performance from 4 cyl engine..awesome job done by them..and i'm so impressed wuth the facts bro..tq for the info

Last year's WTCC cars were all running NA 2.0L 4 cylinder petrol engines except for the SEAT's TDi. I think max HP oso limited to 280hp.
The S42 engine (the BMW internal code) can produce even higher hp but of cos less reliable and won't comply to race regulation.

This is new to me..have not been following the WTCC runs before..

Engine capacity = bore surface x stroke x no. of piston = (pi*radius^2)*stroke*no. of piston

= (3.1416 x 8.6cm/2 x 8.6cm/2) x 8.6cm x 4
= 500 cubic cm x 4
= 2,000 cc

compare to stock
= (3.1416 x 8.4cm/2 x 8.4cm/2) x 8.1cm x 4
= 427.76 cubic cm x 4
= 1,711 cc

Count again lah... wrong lah.... :p it shud be 1796cc...

and if u bore out the stock M42 to 86mm but retain the 81mm crankshaft, u'll get 1883cc. aledi calculated that. but then it'll open up a can of worms.. cos then u'll want to optimise the engine further with ECU, cams, valvesprings, oversized valves. bla bla bla... and then 2 stage fuel injections.. :p endless list man..... :p or was it just me... haha...
