And so the problems begin.....About a couple of weeks ago I noticed that whenever I do a slow turn especially to the left,I feel this little thud midway thru the turn. It's especially apparent when I turn out of say a parking lot. It's not much but just a couple of thuds but it's getting me worriedAnd so I took the car to our local AB.The service guy hoists the car up,opens the protective plastic beneath the engine, gets a screw driver, pokes it around a few bushes, shakes my wheels to check if it's loose turns around, looks at me and says "your Active Steering got problem" of course to my disbelief :eek:And in all fairness,I must add that he did sit in the car, with the engine running, turned the steering from left to right a few times and said that he did feel a little thud too.Now I walk back to the counter and just to check what it would cost me just incase I do have to replace it and the kind lady tells me RM14,600 for the Active steering unit and RM550 for labour. She adds that it's quite a common problem with even the new E60s and that they have replaced atleast 3 units so far and since all these cars were under warranty they just replace them instead of trying to repair. My question is,if it's really a faulty Active steering unit, wouldn't it have indicated on the Idrive? And here's the funny bit,as I drove out of the workshop everything seems fine,no sound or feel of a thud I was maneuvering out but I can feel that it's slowly coming backCan you guys help me out on these please?I'd rather fix it before it gets worst.Where can I possibly go to get this rectified apart from AB? I wouldn't mind the drive down to KL if the need be.
