Just to share my recent experiance. Been facing the same swimming symtom for the past few months. Went to ADvance MTB, been told to change the tie rod. But when I shake the tyre at left to right position, not much play. Then I looks for 2nd alternative, 2 workshop asked me to change tyre. Coz my tire already almost end of life and not even. Then this morning managed to change 4 pcs of rubber. Guess what, my car perform same as new. No more swimming on uneven road, and steering straight as usual. Felt very dissappointed with the junior foreman at Advance MTB. They really lack of diagnosis experiance. So next timer is your tyre already almost hits the treadware mark, don't bother to change the tie rod or steering coupling. Tyre maybe is the real culprit.
