HI bro's in this forum . I just got my car yesterday and it seems there are few things needed my attention. The main thing i need to handle first is the steering. It feels heavy and i have read through the posting by all the bros here that it is common. Any good workshop can recommend? As i notice alot of bro's here go to WP pandan indah, how about any reasonable place in pj area? Hope bro's can enlighten me here with their contacts too. Thanks alot:)

Most likely your steering rack is defective. I believe the used car dealer must have asked its mechanic to tighten the steering rack causing it to feel heavy. Another good workshop in PJ is Optimum Motorsports at Kayu Ara (012) 308-1891 ask for Jason Foo.

You can try Bluegreen Motor Werks at the federal highway before Motorola ( same row with the fire fighters building and ABX courier..) they are BMW Specialist!...btw, e39 steering is abit heavier compared to the 3 series..I do enjoy the high speed driving with heavier steering...

OK thanks alot bro herbert and bro johnj. This is the disadvantage of getting a car without any mechanic inspect. I'll guess slowly ill get the defective parts done up. I notice also the revving sound is very loud when the car up on the hill. Is it normal for a e39 to be rough sound?:burnout:

tkm,

Well since you have bought the car, try not to look back but instead look forward and see how best to get your ride to a satisfactory condition. Since you do not have the service records from the previous owner(s) and your car being almost 10 years, many items/components would have degraded and time for replacement. Our e39 operating temperature is 110 degree C and your top priority (if you haven't done so) would be to visit a BMW specialist and have them check the cooling system (all water hoses, water pump, radiator, expansion tank, clutch fan, radiator etc etc).

The very loud revving sound is not normal and the clutch fan would be the suspect.

Yeah true on what you said bro herbert. Does the workshop optimum at kayu ara does these things or any good place that can recommend too? I don't mind travel abit:)

Thanks bro alan. Notes taken and really appreciate all the bro's help here. As i am newbie in owning a bmw, i still need some time to learn the parts need to be done first. I follow bro herbert advise, will look into cooling systems first plus the irritating sound when the car on the move, "tak tak tak" sound. Make me don't feel great when driving the car. Need to take care one thing at the time if not sure broke...hehehe:)
