Hi sifus,Need some assistance. Lately been hearing some squeaking noise from the brake when pressed midway . The front discs were just changed and initally there was no problem but after a week started hearing this nosie.Any idea what the cause would be? Appreciate your input.

When you changed your front disc, did you change your brake pads as well? What brand of brake pads are you using now?

Hi mean guy,

FYI I am currently based in Scotland and have just bought this car E39 530i 2weeks back. I was told the front discs are new along with the pads but no clue what brand?
What I notice is if it rains the noise wouldn't be there or hardly could hear but if it is dry day it can be heard pretty clearly.
Appreciate your advise.
Cheers.

Try some copper grease where the pads sit on the caliper, the sqeual's probably coming from high frequency vibes between the metals. Goes away since the (rain) water acts as a temporary lubricant. My 2 cents.

hey gshanmg,

Since the disc and pads are claimed to be new, the best thing to do now is to let it run in for a couple of weeks more and see if the noise disappear. If it doesnt, you may wanna consider to replace the pads with the BMW ori ones! Just my 2cents!

Good Luck!

Thanks mean guy but i am pretty doubtful the noise will disappear as I have driven almost 500miles since I bought it. Anyway I will be bringing the car to mech to check the pads tomorrow and see what happens. Will it post the results later.

Cheers.

gshanmg bro what is the outcome

Seargent,

Brought the car for a check and it was obvious coming from the passenger side. Suspect the brake pads rubbing on metal but no chance to do anyway as the garage was full of apointments and I was on my back to KL on holiday a few days later. Will be back to repair in early June.
I will post it after my break.

Cheers.
